Schools concentrate too much on knowledge and not enough on insite. Jostein Gaarder, philosopher, Bergen The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by sceptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were. John F. Kennedy, Dublin, Ireland, 28 June 1963 It is only when practitioners realize what they are dealing with that they can even begin to understand how to begin to help. This book was of starting the ball rolling, and is compiled and written with the intention a general overview of as much as possible. Practitioners from other disciplines have asked me to direct the book at their professions, so that I may achieve a greater readership. This is impossible: I am an osteopath. Due to the scope of sports medicine, especially in the field of osteopathy, this book is by no me ans complete. I may have omitted some basic concepts but they can be found elsewhere as the reader searches the references. What I have included is some basic concepts that I feel need driving horne.

Osteopathic Medicine written by W. Llewellyn McKone and has been published by Blackwell Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-03-05 with Medical categories.

This is the first textbook on osteopathic medicine to complement the dominant 'medical' model of education. Drawing from the achievements and ideas of the past as well as present-day practice, it provides an organic yet scientific approach that is uniquely osteopathic. Using the work of its founder, Dr Andrew Taylor Still, and the philosophy of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, McKone shows how true osteopathy is a philosophy, leading to principles and ultimately to a unique form of treatment. This style of thinking brings the philosophy, principles and clinical practice to life for the student and qualified practitioner. Anatomy, physiology, signs and symptoms all merge at the point of treatment. Students and practitioners will find this book invaluable as it will allow them to bring together all their osteopathic training into a coherent osteopathic system of practice. Walter Llewellyn McKone is an author, lecturer and practitioner in osteopathic medicine. This includes the osteopathic areas of health care, sports medicine, manipulative medicine and child care at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (US), American Academy of Psychology, Scientific and Medical Network (UK), Geologists' Association (UK) and is a researcher in Goethian centred medicine. Functional Exercise Prescription written by Eyal Lederman and has been published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-04-21 with Medical categories.

In Functional Exercise Prescription, Eyal Lederman presents a revolutionary new approach for exercise prescription that uses the individual's own movement repertoire. The book demonstrates how daily activities (the life gym) can be amplified to provide the necessary movement challenges to support movement rehabilitation in many musculoskeletal and pain conditions. Hence, all activities can become remedial without the need to prescribe unfamiliar exercise; in other words, 'how to exercise without exercise' or 'how to rehabilitate without exercise'. People recover from most musculoskeletal and pain conditions through three key processes: repair, adaptation, and alleviation of symptoms. The author explains how to identify the individual's recovery process and how to select the appropriate daily or sporting activities, and, how they can be modified to support recovery. Functional Exercise Prescription is a dramatic departure from the traditional strength and conditioning models that have been used for rehabilitation. The book explores the limitation of these models and explains how they can be replaced by functional daily activities ('functioncise'). It provides the practitioner with practical tools to construct a tailor-made plan for each individual to help expedite and optimize their recovery. Most rehabilitation can be constructed from a small familiar set of daily or sports activities. All human physical activity is exercise. Life is your gym.
