This edited volume qualifies black love on the basis of black identity. Much of what is experienced of blackness as an identity arises out of a juxtaposition to other races and identities, particularly whiteness. The contributors in this volume resist the idea of black love in reference to whiteness by exposing the hidden toxicities that come with a focus on whiteness. They reflect on intricate and intimate relationship dynamics that arise out of a violent and challenging past between Black women and Black men.

Where Did Our Love Go?, an anthology of essays written by many major public figures and celebrities, will explore the substantive issues related to marital problem in the African-American community. From the "my baby's mama" syndrome to the more serious implications of what a generation of single-parent households will mean to future generations, this comprehensive collection will provide an in-depth discourse on the trends and issues that have caused the problematic behaviors within African-American relationships to persist with little sign of relief. The book will consist of a total of 40 essays divided equally into 4 lifestyle categories (single, married, divorced, and widowed), to present a wide cross section of perspectives on this subject. Marriage plays an essential role in maintaining the vitality and character of a community, so it is deeply unsettling for many African Americans to find that the value of this institution has lost its allure. While marriage among African Americans has always fallen below the average of other population segments, the gap today has grown so pronounced that the subject has sparked an intense national dialogue. A 2006 Washington Post article, “Is Marriage for White People,” created waves of controversy on the issue. In 2010, Nightline dedicated an entire broadcast to this growing crisis. The marriage gap in Black America has become such an open secret that it’s now the source of endless bad jokes and prime time reality shows. The statistics even back this up, as according to the U.S. Census, 43.3% of black men and 41.9% of black women in America have never been married, and the rate of decline is nearly twice the national average. Marriage is a rite of passage that is fundamental to every culture, which underscores the tremendous need for an active dialogue to take place that will lay a foundation for discovery. With essays from 50 Cent, Viola Davis, Jabari Asim, Darnell Williams, Faith Evans, Mara Brock Akil, and more, Where Did Our Love Go? will ignite the fight for that conversation to begin.

Close your eyes and imagine Black people all over the world loving each other unconditionally and unfiltered. Imagine Black people unified and synchronized in the execution of a global crusade to love, honor, celebrate, liberate, and elevate Black people. A galactic and magnificent movement of melanin united to wield our most potent weapon against the forces that try to conquer us. That weapon is Black love. But Black love is under attack. White terrorism seeks to silence, oppress, and destroy Black people and Black love. And while we are under siege, we hold our breath as we struggle to survive the treachery of this toxic terrorism. We deny ourselves the breath that love gives to life's lungs. We suffocate ourselves with the filters of doubt, despair, grief, and fear. These filters keep us from inhaling the healing sensations of love that could save our lives. Our capacity to love collapses in the chaos, which is part of the Beautiful Struggle of living and loving in a Black body. In Let's Talk About Love, I offer you a lovely breath of love in five short inhalations of poetic prose. This book does not glamorize or mystify love. Instead, it provides you with a radical illustration of what love can look like when you define it, choose it, and embody it on your own terms. I'm talking about revolutionary love! Love is not an illusion. It is not avoiding you. Learn how to return to love, and how to let love bring you back to yourself. Let love resuscitate you and inspire you, and let love feed and nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Come journey with me into an exploration of Black love for self, intimate partners, friends, family, community members, and your siblings of the African diaspora. Love is the only thing whiteness can't take from us. In the quest for justice, freedom, and liberation, let love be your fortitude and your fortress. With Black love as our compass and sword, we will win. It's time to amour up! Put your love in motion, and above all else, be love. Inhale. Exhale. Let us begin this love revolution together.

"The biggest problem in Black America isn't crime, drugs, poverty, or inferior schools; it's the Black gender war between the Black male and female. Black Love Is A Revolutionary Act exposes the secret war that has been waged against the Black man and woman for over 500 years by America's power-elite-- and how they benefit from our destruction. The 13 Recipes for Black Gender Wars lays bare the manufactured confusion, conflicts, myths, and deceptions that are ripping black male and female relationships apart - and what we must do to neutralize them."-- p. Tilling Sacred Grounds examines Black women’s interiority and negotiation of race, gender, and sexuality in religious spaces and religious practices. Phillis Isabella Sheppard argues for the importance of the exchange between interiority and public spaces, and examines religion in cyberspace, art, ritual, and street ministry. She refigures the location of religious experience by retrieving Black women’s interiority as religious space. Often excluded from Black religious studies, interiority is necessary for understanding Black women’s complex and even unconscious relationship with religion. The book weaves a thread by stressing that interiority has subjective, intersubjective, conscious, unconscious, and relational dimensions formed in historical, and social contexts.

All About Black Girl Love In Education written by Autumn A. Griffin and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-25 with Education categories.

Drawing from bell hook’s 1999 book All About Love, this volume builds on theories of love as they relate to Black Girlhood in education, shedding light on educational practices rooted in love and exploring strategies for centering Black girls and love in Grades K-12. Bringing together voices of scholars, poets, and visual artists who theorize Black Girlhood, the collection pays particular attention to practices, acts, communities, and pedagogies of love. An antidote to the physical, emotional, and psychological violence to which Black girls in the United States are subjected on a daily basis at the hands of those who work in schooling environments, it shows how teachers, school leaders, community educators, and researchers might use love as a framework for changing the narrative and experiences of Black girls. Crucially, though, in conversation with negative aspects of how Black girls experience school, it argues for a shift in perspective that highlights the myriad of ways Black girls do and can receive love within schooling spaces. Read through one of the most influential Black feminist scholars of all time, it presents a novel alternative to the dearth of research that focuses on the violence, neglect, and exclusion Black girls experience in schools, expands the scholarship on Black girls, (re)centers love in the work that educators do, and connects theoretical orientations that characterize Black girl love to practice both in and outside of classrooms. It will appeal to scholars, researchers, and educators working in the fields on urban education, race and ethnicity in education, gender studies, literacy, multicultural education, and diversity and equity in education.
