The anticipation of the largest mayfly hatch contrasts with the quiet, deep waters of holding pools, and anglers are rewarded when they learn how to read the rivers and streams. Remote areas such as the Perry Ponds may require an entire day, while more accessible waters such as Mink Brook still provide excitement. With more than fifty years of experience, Steve Angers reveals some of his favorite spots and details what it takes to be successful when fishing in the Granite State"--

After many years working at the Bangkok Post, even after retirement readers still look forward to his musings in the Sunday edition. His column makes them smile, laugh out loud or get angry and write letters to the editor. In his new book, Beyond Nowhere, Roger has come up with more amusing reflections of his five decades in Thailand and even his early years in England. In it he also recalls experiences in China, the Philippines, the Soviet Union and other countries he visited. Read about hilarious police raids, the orangutan who tried to board a Bangkok bus, the art of how not to bargain, the singing taxi driver and the Thai food that sparked a dramatic London police raid. Then there are the ghosts that struck terror in the Northeast, the day Sir Alec Guinness spoke fluent Thai and the infamous raid on a Pattaya bridge club. And of course there are terrific tales from where it all began, his fascinating experiences at the Bangkok Post dating back to 1969. (Includes color photographs)

In this WWII memoir, a woman recounts her struggle to survive and serve her country in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. Marjorie Terry Smith was a teenage girl living in the suburbs of London when the Second World War began. Before it was over, her family would be bombed out of three homes, her fiancé would be killed fighting Rommel’s forces in North Africa, and she would join the WAAF. Stationed in the operations rooms on seven different Royal Air Force bases, she encountered RAF legends Douglas Bader and Leonard Cheshire, as well as the indomitable Winston Churchill. In Her Finest Hour, Smith recounts a youth in England leading up to the war, her six years of service, and life in a recovering England, in which she worked for the British Overseas Airways Corporation as well as the BBC. Vividly recalling how the war changed her life and the world around her, Smith offers a rare insider’s view of WWII military operations from a woman’s perspective, as told to her son, Stephen Doster.
