A rejected suicide application, an insight from the devil's image consultant, and the ramblings of the dog who wiped out humanity. In other words, a brief collection of endings, penned by the ones who made them happen. Affectionately dubbed by their author „corporate sci-fi”, the stories in The 4D Printed Apocalypse are a blend of office humor, the absurd, and science fiction. While their genre may hit home with amateurs of magical realism and soft sci-fi fans, their topics will likely land on any conoisseur of the mundane. Penned between 2012 and 2016, these stories have never been officially published before, only reaching the awards and honorable mentions lists of a few UK and US competitions. Why now? Because the vanity of corporate life and tone-deaf songs of social media have reached their peak. And also, because the Apocalypse is slowly becoming a historical event.

Before The Road by Cormac McCarthy brought apocalyptic fiction into the mainstream, there was science fiction. No longer relegated to the fringes of literature, this explosive collection of the world’s best apocalyptic writers brings the inventors of alien invasions, devastating meteors, doomsday scenarios, and all-out nuclear war back to the bookstores with a bang. The best writers of the early 1900s were the first to flood New York with tidal waves, destroy Illinois with alien invaders, paralyze Washington with meteors, and lay waste to the Midwest with nuclear fallout. Now collected for the first time ever in one apocalyptic volume are those early doomsday writers and their contemporaries, including Neil Gaiman, Orson Scott Card, Lucius Shepard, Robert Sheckley, Norman Spinrad, Arthur C. Clarke, William F. Nolan, Poul Anderson, Fredric Brown, Lester del Rey, and more. Relive these childhood classics or discover them here for the first time. Each story details the eerie political, social, and environmental destruction of our world.

Fractured Narratives And Pandemic Identities written by Om Prakash Dwivedi and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-30 with Fiction categories.

The book considers how identities have become more fractured since COVID-19, by thinking of COVID-19 in relation to other crises (economic, social, digital, and ecological) and by drawing parallels to literature, cinema, and visual art. COVID-19 was a type of apocalypse, a catastrophic destructive event that produced dystopian measures in its wake and drew uncanny parallels to dystopic works of literature and speculative fiction. Yet the pandemic was apocalyptic in another sense too. The word apocalypse derives from apokalupsis, which means disclosure or uncovering. In this way, COVID-19 also revealed the dystopian processes already at work in the world, including digital forms of surveillance as well as the asymmetries within populations and divides in health outcomes between the Global North and Global South. Indeed, societies that have experienced the horrors of settler colonialism have already survived apocalypses. COVID-19 serves then as a premonition for our climate emergency as well as an echo of other apocalyptic situations, both real and imagined. This book consists of essays from acclaimed theorists and scholars writing amid the pandemic and exposes the asymmetries of our divided world. The volume will be indispensable for scholars and researchers of literature, postcolonial studies, cultural studies, and comparative literature including post-apocalyptic and speculative fiction. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Journal of Postcolonial Writing and are accompanied by a new afterword.

Apocalypse Secrets written by John Able and has been published by John Able Books Ltd. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-21 with Religion categories.

Apocalypse Secrets: Baha'i Interpretation of the Book of Revelation with 60 illustrations is a fresh provocative Parallel Interpretation of the Apocalypse or Book of Revelation. The author, John Able MD, is a retired intensive-care physician. He uses Baha'i Writings that interpret parts of the Apocalypse to decode it as a global tale of three millennia now passing through four centuries of the events of religious end-times. It is a tale of the struggles of seven Empires and seven Faiths, of their materialism and militarism, and the resulting mess into which the world is now crescendoing furiously and fast. These events center on the apocalyptic war waging between the Revelation beast of Muslim Militarism that drives the Middle East and the Revelation Babylon of Malignant Materialism that drives the Christian West. The fall of both is inevitable, with economic crises spiraling the globe into a paralytic depression, now triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. The good news is that spiritual economics will arise and our painful end times into wonderful beginning times. Apocalypse Secrets is a profound and astonishing work in biblical exegesis-a real tour de force as a strikingly original, scholarly, remarkably holistic, comprehensive, and rationally consistent interpretation of the Book of Revelation. Able intelligently probes and penetrates many of the great religious mysteries, and cogently argues that Revelation extends far beyond its strictly Middle East Christic origin. It transcends religious dogma, bridges religious faiths, and explains nineteen hundred years of troubling events in Christianity and Islam with amazing clarity and prescience. It is amazingly detailed and thorough. The author's stylish rhetoric is colorful and alive and his book beautifully crafted and researched, making for an engaging, enlightening, and thought-provoking read. In the end, a scholarly Translation Section decodes original Greek and Hebrew sources. Its strikingly lively translation sticks to the intention of the Greek original. It provides an authoritative base for his distinctive Parallel Interpretation. For anyone striving to penetrate the hidden secrets of the Apocalypse, Apocalypse Secrets is a must reading. This exceedingly interesting book will influence many future works about the subject and become a template of understanding and peace for all. After they read it, people who are interested in prophecy will never look at the Book of Revelation the same again. Visit www.apocalypse.info for more.

Beaten and battered in mind and body, the fugitives limp west, unaware that the human world is fading all around them, unaware that the last remnants of the goodness of man is being ground under the heel of evil at every turn. When confronted with that evil, fight or flight are their only choices, however, Neil's small group is hamstrung, forced to take on more refugees who come to them empty-handed, unarmed, and hungry. Neil is faced with the disturbing prospect of guiding them across two thousand miles of zombie-plagued-land, only to stumble at his first hurdle: the mighty Mississippi has become a river of death and, like the fabled River Styx, the only way to pass is to pay the river man his fee. His price: warm bodies.
