Unlock the more straightforward side of Gargantua with this concise and insightful summary and analysis! This engaging summary presents an analysis of Gargantua by François Rabelais, the follow-up to the popular novel Pantagruel. In this satirical tale, Rabelais tells the story of Gargantua, the father of the giant we meet in the first book, and describes the trials and tests he faces along his path to education. Gargantua was published in 1534 but met with considerable controversy, as a result of its bawdy language and numerous possible interpretations. Rabelais himself was no stranger to public outrage, being widely known as a drunkard with a talent for stirring up strong reactions. He is best-known for his pentalogy of novels about the adventures of two giants, Pantagruel and Gargantua, and is considered to be one of the most significant writers in Western literature. * Our summary is short, simple and pragmatic. It allows you to have the essential ideas of a big book in less than 30 minutes. As you read this summary, you will discover that a giant is best placed to show the best way to grow. You will also discover : that to grow up is to learn to moderate yourself; that it is possible to laugh at everything and at any age; that the philosophy of humanists combines books and sports; who is behind the narrator, Alcofribas Nasier; that Rabelais did not invent Gargantua. The giants are creatures present in all literature and through all the centuries, from ancient poetry to contemporary science fiction. Two of the most famous are undoubtedly Gargantua and his son Pantagruel, who left to the language the adjectives "gargantuan", for "enormous", and "pantagruelic" for "worthy of a very big eater". If the giants are so gigantic, it is mainly because they eat a lot, but above all because they have an insatiable appetite for learning. How did Gargantua, who was at first a terrible and tyrannical child, become a wise ruler and a model adult? *Buy now the summary of this book for the modest price of a cup of coffee!

One who wants to get joy of book reading especially in very less time can go for it. About the Book Francois Rabelais was born at Seuillé in Touraine, France, about 1483. Brought up in a Franciscan convent, he was made a priest in 1520. During his monastic career he conceived a deep and lasting contempt for monkish life, and he obtained permission from the Pope to become a secular priest. He then studied medicine, and became a physician. After wandering about France for many years, he was appointed parish priest of Meudon in 1551, and he died at Paris in 1553. "The Great and Inestimable Chronicles of the Grand and Enormous Giant Gargantua" ("Les Grandes et Inestimables Chroniques du Grande et Enorme Géant Gargantua"), and its sequel, "Pantagruel," appeared between 1533 and 1564. Had these appeared during Rabelais' life, his career would probably have been shorter than it was, for the work is, with all its humour, a very bitter satire against both the Roman Church and the Calvinistic. Rabelais is one of the very great French writers and humourists whose work is closely connected with English literature. But what he borrowed from Sir Thomas More, he generously repaid to Shakespeare, Swift, and Sterne. The famous Abbey of Thelema is inspired by More's "Utopia"; on the other hand, Shakespeare's praise of debt is taken from the speech of Panurge--the most humorous character in French literature, and worthy to stand beside Falstaff. This coloring book is unlike any you've seen before. The artwork was drawn in the 1500s! Now in the public domain, these images depict intriguing and grotesque creatures. Some are mostly human, but many are not. There are fish-people, bog creatures, and inanimate objects given life. Many of the creatures are quite well-endowed, and there is indeed a phallic theme running through the figures. This coloring book is not for children!

Rabelais's hilarious, scabrous and often scatological fantasy of life amonth the monks and friars of sixteenth-century France remains a satirical and comic classic. A great broth of a book in which every conceivable literary form is parodied and every human desire satirized. But under the comedy there is a serious purpose, for Rabelais also enspouses a positive view of life in which tolerance, goodness, understanding and wisdom are opposed to dogmatism, pride and cruelty. The book is here presented in the classic translation by Urquhart and Motteux.

With his birth itself a monumental exploit in itself, it is clear that the giant Pantagruel is destined to great things, and the novel that bears his name chronicles his the remarkable life of the exuberant youth: from his voracious reading habits to his escapades with the knave Panurge and his prowess in battle. The second work in this volume deals with the history of his father Gargantua, whose biography is equally if not more outlandish and larger than life. But these bawdy and boisterous tales, with their fixation on food and faeces, are not just entertaining yarns, as Francois Rabelais, one of the foremost humanists of the sixteenth century, parodies medieval learning, lambasts the established church authority and develops his own ideal visions for the ordering of society.
