Plötzlich wird der Papst als der mächtigste Mann einer sehr reichen Organisation beschrieben, der über Armut, Ungerechtigkeit und die Wirtschaft im Allgemeinen in unzulässiger Weise schwadroniere. Der Papst identifiziere angebliche Schuldige. Mit seinem apostolischen Lehrschreiben Evangelii Gaudium tritt der Papst im ersten Jahr als oberster Hirte der katholischen Christenheit als scheinbarer Kapitalismuskritiker auf, der den westlichen Ländern die Leviten zu lesen scheint. Franziskus: Ebenso wie das Gebot Du sollst nicht töten eine deutliche Grenze setzt, um den Wert des menschlichen Lebens zu sichern, müssen wir heute ein Nein zu einer Wirtschaft der Ausschließung und der Disparität der Einkommen sagen. Es kulminiert in Sätzen wie Diese Wirtschaft tötet oder Das Geld muss dienen und nicht regieren. Die Reaktionen der Gegner sind harsch: Wochenlanger Aufruhr und auch massive Kritik an einem Kommunisten Franziskus, insbesondere von Seiten der Wirtschaft und aus konservativen Kreisen. Weshalb reagieren Vertreter der westlichen Medien und des Kapitalismus mit solch harschen Äußerungen? Könnte es also an dem Missverständnis liegen, dass jeder mögliche Anschein von gemeinschaftsschädigenden Auswirkungen kapitalistischer Systeme vermieden werden soll, in der Folge systemzersetzend sein könnte und daher Kritiker des Kapitalismus seitens der Verteidiger dieses Systems bekämpft werden müssen? Oder liegt es doch, tiefer liegend, an einem Missverständnis einer Art Haltungsethik oder ideologisierten Ethik des Menschen in kapitalistischen Systemen, die als Allgemeingut propagiert und als von vielen Menschen selbstverständlich erachtet und unhinterfragt übernommen wird? Franziskus Aussagen in seinem Lehrschreiben gehen nicht gegen dieses oder jenes Detail einer falschen Ausprägung in dem ein oder anderen Land vor, sondern gegen jene Lebensperspektiven, die aus der vorherrschenden Haltungsethik entstehen, die die Grundlagen eines Wirtschaftssystems unterstützen, das auf Ausbeutung der meisten Menschen, auf Konsumgier und eine Sinnlosigkeit menschlicher Lebensperspektiven bei scheinbar individueller Freiheit des Einzelnen setzt. Dies wäre dann die ostentative Kritik des neuen Papstes Franziskus: Nicht an einem Kapitalismus, sondern an einer Haltungsethik, die im Laufe der Kapitalismusgeschichte von diesem übernommen wurde und von den meisten Menschen unkritisch und als Selbstverständlichkeit angesehen wird. Oder verstehen wir den Papst etwa falsch?
