Kein Wunder, dass auch die Partnersuche sich diesem Trend angepasst hat und zu einer „öffentlichen“ Angelegenheit wurde. Früher wurden Heiratsinstitute meist heimlich aufgesucht, das ist heute anscheinend nicht mehr der Fall – Liebe wurde zu einer Show.

Wir sind soziale Wesen und die Gegenwart anderer kann von entscheidender Bedeutung sein, vor allem dann, wenn wir in Notlagen mit Stress und Krankheit konfrontiert sind. Daher nehmen viele eine Ehe in Kauf, obwohl diese meist auf ein Niveau von Freundschaft oder Wohngemeinschaft gesunken ist, nur um nicht alleine zu sein. Eine gewisse Auszeit kann ja ganz gut tun, aber wenn Menschen zu lange alleine sind, werden die meisten oft eigensinnig und dann wird es mit der Zeit immer schwieriger mit anderen zusammenzuleben.

Mit dieser Bachelor-Arbeit verfolgen die Autorinnen die Absicht, den Wandel der Partnersuche in der Deutschschweiz und die Auswirkungen des sozialen Wandels auf die Partnersuche der Gegenwartsgesellschaft darzulegen. Anhand von narrativen Interviews wird eruiert, wie und wo heterosexuelle Singles in der Schweiz auf Partnersuche gehen und auf welche Herausforderungen sie stossen. Die Bachelor-Arbeit zeigt, dass sich die Partnersuche stark individualisiert hat. Die Institution Ehe hat ihre Monopolstellung verloren und es bildeten sich alternative Lebensformen. Die Lebensform Single ist gesellschaftlich akzeptiert und die Sexualität gehört heute bei vielen Menschen zur Partnersuche. Das Social Web wird im Kontext der Partnersuche immer populärer. Durch das Social Web und die gestiegene Mobilität haben unter anderem räumliche Distanzen bei der Partnersuche an Bedeutung verloren. Die Autorinnen zeigen überdies auf, dass die Soziokulturelle Animation über ein grosses Potenzial verfügt, auf gesellschaftliche Themen Einfluss zu nehmen. Bezogen auf die Partnersuche liegen die theoretischen Ansatzpunkte der Profession vor allem in den Bereichen Reflexionsfähigkeit, Empowerment und Förderung von Begegnungsorten. Ebenfalls wird deutlich, dass die Profession über die nötigen Kompetenzen verfügt, Singles, die keine Partnerschaft finden, bei ihrer Partnersuche zu unterstützen. Sie tut dies häufig bereits indirekt und unbewusst, indem sie die Ressourcen ihrer Zielgruppen ganzheitlich stärkt. Die Autorinnen gehen nicht von einem defizitären Bild der Lebensform Single aus. Die Unterstützung von Singles soll lediglich dort erfolgen, wo sie von den Singles selbst gewünscht wird.

The odyssey of a group of “refugees” from a closed-down online game and an exploration of emergent fan cultures in virtual worlds. Play communities existed long before massively multiplayer online games; they have ranged from bridge clubs to sports leagues, from tabletop role-playing games to Civil War reenactments. With the emergence of digital networks, however, new varieties of adult play communities have appeared, most notably within online games and virtual worlds. Players in these networked worlds sometimes develop a sense of community that transcends the game itself. In Communities of Play, game researcher and designer Celia Pearce explores emergent fan cultures in networked digital worlds—actions by players that do not coincide with the intentions of the game’s designers. Pearce looks in particular at the Uru Diaspora—a group of players whose game, Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, closed. These players (primarily baby boomers) immigrated into other worlds, self-identifying as “refugees”; relocated in There.com, they created a hybrid culture integrating aspects of their old world. Ostracized at first, they became community leaders. Pearce analyzes the properties of virtual worlds and looks at the ways design affects emergent behavior. She discusses the methodologies for studying online games, including a personal account of the sometimes messy process of ethnography. Pearce considers the “play turn” in culture and the advent of a participatory global playground enabled by networked digital games every bit as communal as the global village Marshall McLuhan saw united by television. Countering the ludological definition of play as unproductive and pointing to the long history of pre-digital play practices, Pearce argues that play can be a prelude to creativity.
