"Salvation history (Heilsgeschichte) rests on the belief that every man is directly bound to the great events of which the Bible speaks, which are summed up in Christ, and which unfold in the present in which we live. This reality, writes Professor Cullmann, bestowed dep peace and exuberant joy upon New Testament man and stirred him to missionary activity in the certainty that he was a fellow worker with Christ in the Church. Taking issue with Bultmann, the author feels that it is wrong to arrange Christian existence and salvation history as opposites.
