Il saggio offre una panoramica ben documentata delle operazioni di destabilizzazione volte al “cambio di regime”, dell’origine e della crescita di entità come l’U.S. Agency for International Development e la National Endowment for Democracy, nonché molteplici fondazioni statunitensi coinvolte nel lavoro sul campo, spesso come copertura della CIA. Inoltre spiega come i think tank al servizio dell’egemonia statunitense abbiano rinnovato e perfezionato le loro formule, dalla strategia di eversione ideologica, diretta contro l’URSS e i Paesi socialisti europei, fino alle cosiddette “rivoluzioni colorate”. Nella parte finale smaschera il piano per creare una “opposizione interna” apparentemente più presentabile di quella tradizionale, terrorista e sanguinaria, composta preferibilmente di “artisti”, con l’uso di mercenari e opportunisti in cerca di visibilità mediatica. Questo progetto ha l’aspirazione di causare una “esplosione sociale” che porti all’opportunità di promuovere un intervento militare diretto da parte degli Stati Uniti.
