Complex Responsive Processes In Organizations written by Ralph Stacey and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-09-02 with Business & Economics categories.

The past decade has seen increasing focus on the importance of information and knowledge in economic and social processes, the so-called 'knowledge economy'. This is reflected in the popularity amongst practicing managers and organizational theorists of notions of learning, sense-making, knowledge creation, knowledge management and intellectual capital in organizations and more recently, of emotional intelligence as an important management skill. This insightful book: argues that the information processing view of knowledge creation held by systems thinkers is no longer tenable develops the alternative perspective of Complex Responsive Processes of relating, drawing on the complexity sciences as a source for analogies with human action places self-organizing interaction at the centre of the knowledge creating process in organizations. Learning and knowledge creation are seen as qualitative processes of power relating that are emotional as well as intellectual, creative as well as destructive, enabling as well as constraining, and the result is a radical questioning of the belief that organizational knowledge is essentially codified and centralized. Instead, organizational knowledge is understood to be in the relationships between people in an organization and has to do with the qualities of those relationships.

Geometric Symmetry In Patterns And Tilings written by C E Horne and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-10-23 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book encompasses a wide range of mathematical concepts relating to regularly repeating surface decoration from basic principles of symmetry to more complex issues of graph theory, group theory and topology. It presents a comprehensive means of classifying and constructing patterns and tilings. The classification of designs is investigated and discussed forming a broad basis upon which designers may build their own ideas. A wide range of original illustrative material is included. In a complex area previously best understood by mathematicians and crystallographers, the author develops and applies mathematical thinking to the context of regularly repeating surface-pattern design in a manner accessible to artists and designers. Design construction is covered from first principles through to methods appropriate for adaptation to large-scale screen-printing production. The book extends mathematical thinking beyond symmetry group classification. New ideas are developed involving motif orientation and positioning, including reference to a crystal structure, leading on to the classification and construction of discrete patterns and isohedral tilings.Designed to broaden the scope of surface-pattern designers by increasing their knowledge in otherwise impenetrable theory of geometry this 'designer friendly' book serves as a manual for all types of surface design including textiles, wallpapers and wrapping paper. It is also of value to crystallographers, mathematicians and architects.

The quality of people’s relationships with and interactions with other people are major influences on their feelings of well-being and their evaluations of life satisfaction. The goal of this volume is to offer scholarly summaries of theory and research on topics at the frontier of the study of these social psychological influences—both interpersonal and intrapersonal—on subjective well-being and life satisfaction. The chapters cover a variety of types of relationships (e.g., romantic relationships, friendships, online relationships) as well as a variety of types of interactions with others (e.g., forgiveness, gratitude, helping behavior, self-presentation). Also included are chapters on broader social issues such as materialism, sexual identity and orientation, aging, spirituality, and meaning in life. Subjective Well-Being and Life Satisfaction provides a rich and focused resource for graduate students, upper-level undergraduate students, and researchers in positive psychology and social psychology, as well as social neuroscientists, mental health researchers, clinical and counselling psychologists, and anyone interested in the science of well-being.

Knowledge is considered as the most important asset in our modern society. It has now penetrated all facets of computing practice: from the rise of knowledge management to the Semantic Web and from the blog culture to the knowledge economy. This penetration has made proper knowledge engineering a most - quired feature. This volume contains the papers presented at the 16th International C- ference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management (EKAW 2008) held in Acitrezza, Sicily, Italy, September 29 to October 3 2008. EKAW 2008 is concerned with all aspects of eliciting, acquiring, modelling and managing knowledge, and their role in the construction of knowledge-intensive systems and services for the Semantic Web, knowledge management, e-business, natural language processing, intelligent integration information, etc. This year we paid special attention to the topic of “knowledge patterns” that can be considered as good practice or models that are applied or reused throughout the knowledge engineering life cycle. Hence, beyond traditional t- icsofEKAW,wesolicitedpapersthatcoverresearchonhowtodescribe, classify, model, extract and apply knowledge patterns in the design of ontologies, app- cations and products. We have paid special attention to the description of ex- riences that involve the application and identi?cation of knowledge patterns in social network analysis, natural language processing, multimedia analysis, p- tern recognition, etc.

Constructing Families Of Constructions written by Francisco José Ruiz de Mendoza Ibáñez and has been published by John Benjamins Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-26 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Within Construction Grammar, this volume moves away from a compartmentalized view of constructions with the aim of providing a more holistic description of grammar. Thus, the book brings together analyses that look at constructional families within the “constructicon” of such languages as English, Spanish, German, Polish, Croatian, and Hungarian. Part 1 focuses on how different analytical perspectives may be applied to comparable and/or connected constructions with a view to enhancing our understanding of their similarities, differences, and relations. Part 2 contributes to the state of the art in Construction Grammar in three ways: (i) by reconciling aspects of various constructionist analyses; (ii) by determining to what extent competing constructionist perspectives can offer more adequate approaches to specific analytical needs; and (iii) by challenging central assumptions within Construction Grammar. This book is expected to encourage further research into the anatomy of constructional families and their interrelations in all domains of constructional organization.
