Paul Celans Gedicht 'Vor einer Kerze' ist 1953 entstanden und wurde in seinem zweiten Gedichtband 'Von Schwelle zu Schwelle' 1955 veröffentlicht. Der Gedichtband besteht aus drei Zyklen, wobei 'Vor einer Kerze' im zweiten Zyklus' unter dem Titel 'Mit wechselndem Schlüssel' steht. Das mit 45 Versen längste Gedicht des Bandes ist als 24. von 47 Gedichten numerisch in der Mitte. Es beschreibt eine Situation, in welcher das Lyrische Ich sich in die Sphäre des Jenseits begibt und ist in einer Stimmung der schicksalhaften Erfahrung des Todes geschrieben. Das Zentralthema des dichterischen Werks Paul Celans ist eine dialogische Situation eines lyrischen Ichs mit einem angesprochenen Du. In 'Vor einer Kerze' steht das lyrische Ich mit dem Du der Toten im Dialog. Celan thematisiert hier, ebenso wie in vielen anderen seiner Gedichte, die Erfahrungen des Holocaust. Er kombiniert den persönlichen Schmerz über den Tod seiner Eltern mit der leidvollen Erfahrung des Völkermords. Erinnerungen und Träume kreuzen einander in der chiffrenreichen dichten Sprache Celans. Das Gedicht steht unter dem Zeichen des magischen Totengedenkens. Der Text ist ein Ritual der Beschwörung in allen Dimensionen und Bedeutungen des Wortes. Psalm stammt aus dem fünften Gedichtband Niemandsrose. Der Titel Die Niemandsrose war zuerst nur Bestandteil des Gedichtes Psalm. Erst am 31.01.1961 ersetzte er die ursprünglich erwogene Überschrift Nouveaux Poèmes bsw. Stationen. Paul Celan kombinierte zunehmend zwei im Grunde nicht kompatible Begriffe zu einem Neologismus (z.B. Atemwende, Fadensonne und Lichtzwang).1 Auf den Neologismus gehe ich später bei der Gedichtinterpretation noch genauer ein, da Paul Celan diese Art der Kompositumbildung nicht nur für die Titel aller späteren Zyklen benutzt, sondern auch in meinem Gedicht Psalm arbeitet der Dichter mit dem Neologismus. Meine Hausarbeit ist so gegliedert, dass ich zuerst auf den Dichter eingehen werde, da seine Biographie im sehr engen Verhältnis zu seinen Gedichten steht. Anschließend werde ich zu der , in vielen Büchern mit Paul Celan im gleichen Atemzug genannten, hermetischen Lyrik kommen. Anhand der danach kommenden Stilmittel sollen z.B. Reim und Metrik näher erläutert werden. Die nächsten Punkte gehören zu den inhaltlichen Elementen, bei denen es unter anderem um das lyrische Wir sowie die Mystik gehen wird. Die letzten drei Bereiche werden dann die Paradoxie, die Gedichtinterpretation und die abschließende Schlussbetrachtung sein. Das bedeutet, dass ich zuerst die äußere Form des Gedichtes behandle und allmählich von ihr aus in die inhaltlichen Aspekte übergehe.

Lu Xun was the pen name of Zhou Shuren is one of the major Chinese writers of the 20th century. Considered by many to be the founder of modern Chinese literature, he wrote in baihua (the vernacular) as well as classical Chinese. Lu Xun was a short story writer, editor, translator, critic, essayist and poet. In the 1930s he became the titular head of the Chinese League of Left-Wing Writers in Shanghai. Lu Xun's works exerted a very substantial influence after the May Fourth Movement to such a point that he was lionized by the Communist regime after 1949. Mao Zedong himself was a lifelong admirer of Lu Xun's works. Though sympathetic to the ideals of the Left, Lu Xun never actually joined the Chinese Communist Party. Lu Xun's works are known to English readers through numerous translations, especially Selected Stories of Lu Hsun translated by Yang Hsien-yi and Gladys Yang.
