This book represents the outcome of the joint activities of a group of scholars who were concerned about the lack of international research in play for children from birth to 3 years. The authors are members of the Organisation Mondiale pour ` l’Education Prescholaire ́ (OMEP). For further information, see http://www.om- ong.net/. The idea of carrying out a research project internationally was born at the OMEP’s World Congress in Melbourne, Australia 2004. All member countries were invited and 10 countries decided to participate, of which three have withdrawn d- ing the process. The reason for this might be that in these countries only one person was working with the project, while other seven countries have been working in a team of two or more persons. The countries that have carried out research and contributed to this book with a chapter each are Australia, Chile, China, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden and USA (Wisconsin). For more information about the p- ticipating countries and their corresponding addresses, see Appendix I. This book project started in Melbourne with a discussion about what is general in early childhood education globally, and what is culturally speci c. The discussion was inspired by one of the keynote speakers, Nazhat Shameem (2004), judge in the supreme court in Fiji, when she said: “If we all think we are so different and speci c in each culture, the role of human rights has no value anymore.” We formulated three questions:

The Education Of Man written by Friedrich Froebel and has been published by Courier Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-31 with Education categories.

In this classic of childhood education, Friedrich Froebel identifies the fundamental principles upon which he based his now-ubiquitous kindergarten system. Froebel demonstrates how to channel child's play and integrate it into the development of intelligence and social skills, explaining the vital inner connection between the pupil's mind and the subject of study. Impressed by the theories of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, Froebel developed an approach to early childhood education that exercised enormous influence over modern techniques, particularly those of John Dewey. Froebel espoused "self-activity" and play as essential factors in preschool education, maintaining that the teacher's role is not to drill or indoctrinate but to encourage self-expression through play. His method banishes mechanical and rote activities in favor of creative play, which fosters the growth of artistic capacity. Originally published in Germany in 1826 as Die Menschenerziehung, this volume constitutes one of the most important books on education ever written.

The text includes examples depicting this type of research and how it can be used to evaluate teaching, learning, and the school environment. Book Features: Provides researchers with ethical frameworks promoting diversity and inclusivity.Establishes connections between qualitative inquiry in our daily lives and its functions in the practice and study of education.Broadens understanding of how we come to know the world. “With enhanced perception, reflection, and imagination, researchers and practitioners are better positioned to work collaboratively toward richer forms of education.” —From the Foreword by Nel Noddings, professor emerita, Stanford University “Elliot Eisner was the most important art educator of his generation, and a true heir to John Dewey. In this splendid synthesis of his original work in the areas of art, curriculum, and education, Eisner presents a carefully reasoned, candid, and eloquent brief on behalf of qualitative forms of educational inquiry.” —Howard Gardner, Harvard University

Excerpt from The Education of Man The destiny, as well as the vocation, of all things is to represent their nature through development, and thus the divine in them; to make known and manifest God in the outward and transitory things. The special destiny, as well as the particular vocation, of man as an understanding and rational being, is to bring his nature, the divine in him, thus God, and his destiny, his vocation, himself, to complete consciousness, to vivid recognition, to clear insight, and with self determination and freedom to practise all this in his own life, to allow it to act, to manifest it.
