Rapatti itse kertoo tämän runokokoelman synnystä seuraavasti: "Aloin aluksi kirjoittaa vain itselleni. Halusin selventää ajatuksiani ja tunteitani, suhdettani elämääni ja maailmaan. Huomasin, ettei pelkkä pöytälaatikkoon kirjoittaminen riitä. Runot oli tuotava muille ihmisille. Kun esittää runojaan julkisesti, joutuu asettamaan itsensä alttiiksi yleisön edessä ja seisomaan runojensa takana. Kokemus on hyvin puhdistava ja palaute välitöntä. Itselleni on tärkeää pohtia runoissa myös yhteiskunnallisia asioita. Se ei tarkoita erilaisten runojen arvottamista aiheiden mukaan. Runouden voima on sen monipuolisuudessa. Jokainen ilmentää omaa persoonallisuuttaan. Satojen kukkien on annettava kukkia. Kaikenlainen omaehtoinen kulttuuriharrastus voi saada innoituksensa ja kukoistaa vain avoimessa ja demokraattisessa ilmapiirissä, jossa ihmisoikeuksia kunnioitetaan. Totalitaarisissa oloissa joutuu valtion kontrollin alle tai harrastamaan itsesensuuria. Rehellisyydestä taas joutuu luultavasti vankilaan. Kaikenlainen vapaa kulttuuritoiminta on vallanpitäjien kannalta hyvin epäilyttävää. Sehän haiskahtaa ajattelulta. Ja ajatteluhan on nimenomaan vallan vihollinen."
