Le récit qu'il donne touchant l'apparition de la lumière sainte, le samedi saint, en présence du roi Bau douin, qui lui montra une déférence particulière, est plein d'intérèt. Daniel dit n'avoir rien épargné pour se procurer les meilleurs guides, et en efi'et, on trouve chez lui beau coup moins d'erreurs que chez ses devancic et ses con temporains; il est mème juste d'attribuer en partie ces erreurs aux copistes, qui ont souvent dèfigurè le texte original et mème y ont fait des interpolaüons, dans le courant de plus de sept siècles. Nous ne possédons pas de manuscrits plus anciens de cette relation, que ceux du xv-me siècle, a moin: qu'on ne retrouve le manuscrit sur vélin, qui a été signalé dans le couvent Floristschefi' et dont les traces se sont perdues. On peut s'assurer que Daniel écrivait son récit par frag ments, après chaque excursion, en mettant des titres à chacun de ces fragments, dont l'ordre a été arbitrairement_vii. Aleksei Ziuzin's embassy to London in November 1613 added a new dimension to James I's schemes for an alliance with the Protestant kingdoms of the north. The introduction analyzes England's later 16th and early 17th century relations with Denmark, Poland, the Empire, Sweden and Russia.
