Bidang farmasi klinikal di Malaysia mula berkembang pada akhir tahun 1980-an yang bermula di Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian. Kelantan. Hasilan pendidikan dan perkhidmatan farmasi klinikal yang tercetus di situ, hospital-hospital di seluruh negara mulai menawarkan kepelbagaian perkhidmatan kepada pesakit dalam usaha untuk memberikan perkhidmatan yang terbaik. Konsep penjagaan farmaseutikal yang mulai tersebar luas di seluruh dunia pada tahun 1990-an turut melibatkan perkembangannya di Malaysia. Konsep ini diserapkan dalam hampir kesemua perkhidmatan farmasi yang ada di negara ini. Sehubungan hal ini, bidang farmasi daripada aspek pendidikan dan perkhidmatan memberikan ruang kerjasama antara bidang petugas kesihatan lain seperti doktor dan jururawat. Proses ini mampu memantapkan lagi usaha peningkatan mutu kesihatan masyarakat yang sememangnya kurang arif tentang isu yang mampu membantu mereka. Konsep kelestarian dalam farmasi klinikal yang menekankan pendidikan terhadap pesakit dan kakitangan dalam bidang kesihatan dapat membawa negara ke arah yang lebih maju, serta sekali gus dapat menerajui penyelidikan dalam aspek klinikal dan penambahbaikan dalam farmakoterapi. Penyelidikan dan panduan pendidikan akan membantu dalam memastikan jaminan keselamatan penggunaan ubat-ubatan yang ada serta membantu ekonomi negara agar setanding dengan negara-negara maju yang lain. Kajian dan pendekatan dalam aspek pendidikan farmasi yang telah dilakukan menyumbang kepada penyebaran pengetahuan dan pengalaman yang lebih luas. Kesemua ini adalah demi kepentingan dan kelestarian umat manusia. Usaha untuk membantu masyarakat tentang pendidikan kefarmasian bukan terhad di negara sendiri bahkan penulis telah diundang ke seluruh dunia untuk berkongsi pengalaman dan pengajaran dalam aspek farmasi klinikal. Penglibatan penulis dalam pendidikan kefarmasian ini telah mengangkat nama beliau sehingga dinobatkan dengan pelbagai anugerah pada peringkat negara mahupun antarabangsa.
