Tulisan dalam buku ini merupakan bagian dari rangkaian penelitian yang dilakukan oleh penulis tahun 2011 melalui penelitian dosen muda di Universitas Khairun Ternate, Maluku Utara. Selama ini Kajian “Bahasa Etnik Kao dan Bahasa Melayu Ternate” belum terjamah oleh banyak pakar bahasa di seantero negeri ini. Oleh karena itu, kajian tentang pengantar morfologi bahasa dalam buku ini dibagi dalam dua pembahasan yakni pengantar morfologi bahasa Etnik Kao dan Bahasa Melayu Ternate. Dalam pengantar analisis morfologi bahasa Etnik Kao, diungkap tentang pola vokal, diftong, konsonan, dan sejarah singkat Etnik Kao. Masyarakat penutur bahasa Kao banyak bermukim di Desa Kao di tepian teluk Halmahera Utara. Pembahasannya diolah menggunakan struktur kosakata swadesh dan kosakata budaya dasar. Bahasa Etnik Kao merupakan salah satu bahasa dari sejumlah bahasa di provinsi Maluku Utara yang berjalan pada kepunahan. Dalam buku ini juga ditampilkan tentang pembahasan pengantar morfologi bahasa Melayu Ternate sebagai bahasa pemersatu semua etnik di Maluku Utara. Masyarakat penutur bahasa Melayu Ternate banyak berdiam di pulau-pulau dalam kawasan provinsi Maluku Utara, yakni Pulau Halmahera, Pulau Ternate, Pulau Tidore, Pulau Bacan, Pulau Makian, Pulau Kayoa, Pulau Taliabu, Pulau Loloda, Pulau Morotai, Pulau Hiri, Pulau Gebe, Pulau Obi dan Pulau Batang Dua. Pembahasannya sendiri diuraikan tentang proses afiksasi dan penggunaan kata ganti orang, pemilik dan kata depan.
