Buku ini dimulai dengan sebuah bahasan tentang peran penting simulasi proses di industri kimia dan hal-hal apa saja yang perlu diperhatikan dalam melakukan simulasi proses agardidapatkan hasil yang baikdan dapat dipertanggungjawabkan. Bahasan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan kajian ulang mengenai hukum konservasi dengan penekanan pada neraca massa dan neraca panas. Kajian ulang termodinamika dengan penekanan pada konsep yang mendukung model yang digunakan untuk melakukan simulasi proses diberikan secara komprehensif. Ini terutama menyangkut kesetimbangan fase, dasar perhitungan entalpi, dan persamaan keadaan. Bahasan kemudian masuk ke simulasi proses, dengan terlebih dahulu diuraikan sekilas tentang Aspen Hysys, paket fluida yang tersedia dan bagaiman menentukan paket fluida/model termodinamika yang cocok untuk sistem kompone yang akan disimulasikan. Baru setelah itu, bagaimana melakukan simulasi dengan Aspen Hysys dan cara menggunakan berbagai fasilitas yang tersedia untuk menginterpretasikan hasil simulasi diuraikan dengan beberapa contoh kasus termasuk melakukan studi parametrik dari proses yang umum di industri. Buku ini sangat berguna untuk mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah sintesa Proses, Perancangan Proses atau mata kuliah sejenis dan para praktisi di bidang rekayasa dan operasi proses.
