Kurikulum pendidikan senantiasa berubah dikarenakan harus selalu ditingkatkan menjadi lebih baik dari terdahulunya dan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan di jamannya. Sebagaimana hadits riwayat Ali bin Abi Thalib, Rasulullah SAW bersabda: “Didiklah anakanakmu sesuai dengan zamannya, karena mereka hidup bukan di zamanmu”.1 Di Indonesia sendiri, pendidikan sudah mengalami pergantian kurikulum beberapa kali, dimulai dari tahun 1947 dengan kurikulum rentjana, 1952 dengan kurikulum rentjana pelajaran terurai, 1964 dengan kurikulum rentjana pendidikan, 1968 dengan kurikulum 1968, 1975 dengan kurikulum 1975, 1984 dengan kurikulum 1984, 1994 dengan kurikulum 1994 dan suplemen kurikulum 1999, 2004 dengan Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK), 2006 dengan Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP), 2013 dengan Kurikulum 2013 (K-13) dan 2022 dengan kurikulum merdeka.2 Setelah diciptakannya kurikulum merdeka oleh Menteri Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia (Mendikbud Ristek RI) Nadiem Makarim di mana kurikulum tersebut memberikan kebebasan pada peserta didik untuk mengeksplorasi kemampuan (passion) dan minatnya.3 Kurikulum merdeka merupakan suatu gebrakan yang menawarkan konsep pendidikan yang lebih sederhana dan ideal di mana guru maupun peserta didik berperan sebagai subjek dalam proses kegiatan belajar mengajar (KBM) yang mana keduanya dapat saling bersinergi satu sama lain.
