The Covid-19 crisis, with all the horrors it has caused, has offered humanity an opportunity to reflect on itself and evaluate its point, even if it is delayed. In a very short time, we found ourselves worried about whether we could reach the objects we needed, whether we would lose our jobs or keep our freedom. Alienation is described as withdrawing or separation of a person or a person's affections from an object or position of former attachment: alienation viewed as a sense of detachment from the values of one's society, family, and even from one's own feelings from the values of one's society and family (S. L. Halleck). Different forms of alienation, such as cultural alienation, professional alienation, and religious alienation, are among the current issues. It is obvious that we need to define different forms of alienation along with the pandemic. I believe this book will not be the first nor the last research book published on the Covid-19 pandemic. Our aim is to leave a resource on the subject for the next generation of researchers. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the book and hope it will be beneficial for the academic community. Early Childhood Education and Care in a Global Pandemic is a book that highlights how the international early childhood education and care sector responded to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It shows the resiliency of the sector around the world as it grappled with a rapidly changing environment of uncertainty and complexity. Drawing on a diverse range of early childhood education and care contexts, the book captures real-life examples of how COVID-19 impacted children, educators and teachers, and families. Chapters present cases of the particular challenges that COVID-19 presented in a wide range of countries and then how they responded to these challenges – challenges that tested the resilience of children, educators and teachers, and families. By forward anchoring, each chapter examines the opportunities that arose from these challenges and how new local knowledge was produced as new ways were found to support children, educators and teachers, and families during this time. This book offers early childhood education and care a timely resource on lessons learnt from a once-in-a-lifetime event. It offers the sector a way forward to commit to developing new ways of thinking and working that stem from the lessons learnt during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We narrate everything. We construct the world around us by telling its stories, shaping the language we use to describe what is happening to us; language that is used and adapted in the media in response to moments of crisis. This language in turn shapes how we see the world. This is what we call 'worldmaking'. When we look for solutions to problems, we so often start by telling stories to each other in our communities, stories that set a crisis in context, relate it to our historical experience, help us to understand it in the context of our local communities and contrast those stories to dominant narratives. In this way, language becomes a physical and material force in our world, through which we construct our personal, local, transnational and spiritual identities. 'Worldmaking in the Time of COVID-19', the project that informs this book, was an early response to the experience of living through the COVID-19 pandemic - intended as a contribution to our collective understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following comparison and analysis of over 1.1 million news articles from 117 countries in twelve different languages, this timely reflection follows the course of this investigation, with three main objectives: - to capture the languages of the early pandemic (January- April 2020); - to offer a transferable methodology for exploring world events in multiple languages; - and to share some of the key findings of researchers. Like all the volumes in the Language Acts and Worldmaking series, the overall aim is two-fold: to challenge widely-held views about language learning as a neutral instrument of globalisation and to innovate and transform language research, teaching and learning, together with Modern Languages as an academic discipline, by foregrounding its unique form of cognition and critical engagement. Specific aims are to: · propose new ways of bridging the gaps between those who teach and research languages and those who learn and use them in everyday contexts from the professional to the personal · put research into the hands of wider audiences · share a philosophy, policy and practice of language teaching and learning which turns research into action · provide the research, experience and data to enable informed debates on current issues and attitudes in language learning, teaching and research · share knowledge across and within all levels and experiences of language learning and teaching · showcase exciting new work that derives from different types of community activity and is of practical relevance to its audiences · disseminate new research in languages that engages with diverse communities of language practitioners.

A collection of 13 articles from the June 2020 edition of La Civiltà Cattolica, the highly respected and oldest Catholic journal published from Rome. The prohibition of religious celebrations during a pandemic is not a form of religious discrimination. Antonio Spadaro, SJ says it is important to ensure that worship and pastoral action continue in some way during lockdown while restrictions primarily serve the moral imperative to protect human lives. In Popular Theology and Communication, Paul A. Soukup, SJ talks about faith formation that comes through popular theology. He says the use of popular theology in faith formation can connect formal and informal faith formation. You Guo Jiang, SJ introduces China’s Great Catholic Educator Ma Xiangbo. Ma’s educational theory and practice inspire contemporary Chinese higher education to educate people in creativity, critical thinking, ethical reasoning and a sense of social responsibility. How much of the world economy will survive the forced shutdown due to the spread of the pandemic? Fernando de la Iglesia Viguiristi, SJ explains how it depends on the availability of credit as economic activity functions on the basis of credit, stressing the need to control the dynamics of globalization. The article Is the Virus a Punishment from God? discusses how people misinterpret Biblical verses and manipulate their communities by proclaiming that the pandemic is God’s punishment on a sinful world. In reality, followers of Jesus are called to share the certainty that there is light. Julio L. Martínez, SJ urges us to rethink the meaning of technology, work, communication, economics and politics according to the new parameters of the world in Revisiting the Common Good in the Digital Age. Andreas Lind, SJ examines the meaning and application of fundamental option for the logos, eternal unchanging truth, which create a communion between Christianity and other traditions. He argues that this will help to understand the words and gestures of the present pontiff.

The Coronavirus Pandemic written by Judith von Halle and has been published by Temple Lodge Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-16 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

What lies at the root of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the worldwide pandemic it has caused, affecting the health and livelihoods of untold millions of people? What are the deeper, spiritual realities behind COVID-19 and the global turmoil it has left in its trail? In an effort to answer these queries and many others put to her at the start of the pandemic, Judith von Halle composed two letters in March 2020, based on her own spiritual-scientific research. Published in this book together with an additional essay, she addresses questions such as: Which entities stand behind the virus? How and why does it affect human beings? What measures can be taken for prevention and therapy? What does the crisis mean to individuals and what possibilities does it offer for personal development? The author suggests that, apart from the material havoc triggered by coronavirus, the spiritual causes behind it are extremely serious and – if the present pandemic is not to be the first in a series of catastrophes – humanity is called upon to respond in a radically transformative way. In an additional article von Halle tackles the controversial issues relating to government lockdowns and the protest movements that have sprung up in opposition to them. How do these events point to real questions of individual freedom and, most importantly, how do they relate to the central event of our time – an event that, tragically, remains largely unknown? Revealing unexpected perspectives to the COVID-19 pandemic, Judith von Halle asks urgent and difficult questions and offers shattering insights for humanity’s further development.
