CHOOSING A CAREER CAN SEEM A daunting task. Naturally, you want to get it right. Don't let the importance of this decision intimidate you, however. Do just the opposite. Use its importance to bolster your enthusiasm for doing the research to help you make the right choice. The fact that you are taking the time to read this report is a good sign. Start by considering what you like to do. This isn't the only question you should ask yourself when starting your career search, but it's definitely the most important one. Money, work environment and your own natural aptitudes are all important, but nothing is worse than choosing a career based on something other than personal satisfaction. Determine what you would be happy to do for free, and then figure out how to get paid for it. Cars inspire more emotion than any other manufactured product ever made. In fact, it's easy to forget that they are, indeed, manufactured products. Cars are larger and more complicated than, say, can openers, but they are made out of the same materials and in similar factory environments. Automobiles inspire so many emotions because they embody and express those emotions. For most people, their car is the second-most expensive thing they own, after only their home. Cars are an outward reflection of income and status, taste and personality. Cars are the main manifestation of the personal freedom of movement that we take for granted. For most of human history, most people never ventured more than a few miles from the place where they were born, making the ability to go anywhere at any time a powerful self-esteem builder. Cars are fun to drive. They enable people to get to work and pursue their ambitions. Automotive designers are the people who add the emotional component to the pieces of metal and leather assembled by the mechanical engineers who design the engines and associated running gear that most people never see. In fact, most people choose cars based on a combination of looks and price, with performance coming in a distant third place. Engineers and marketing executives play roles in taking ideas off the drawing board and bringing them to life, but designers are the automotive professionals who make cars appeal to the people who will buy them, and drive them.

Common Sense Not Required written by Evan Boberg and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

When people learn the author once worked as an engineer at Chrysler, their interest peaks and questions are asked. Similar to the author's once held view, it seems most people think you must be quite smart to work in the Automobile Industry. This is not the story the author tells; the industry thrives despite the proliferation of "idiots" throughout its ranks. The author offers up several "Common Sense Principles," and then proceeds to illustrate many examples where "Idiots" ignored or were ignorant of these principles resulting in increased costs to the corporation and other havoc. "Common Sense" is shown to be uncommon. Common questions about automobiles are answered: Why can't I find a good mechanic? Why it is not covered on my new car warranty? What happened to the 100 mpg carburetor? Should I buy a hybrid vehicle? How will future cars be powered? Common popular beliefs are dispelled: More education means you're smarter. The smartest people work for the government. You have to be smart to get a patent. Hybrid vehicles always get better gas mileage. Chrysler research projects are exposed. Can a rubber band power a car? The lost member of the Oak Ridge Boys is found!

U S Automotive Industry written by Stephen Cooney and has been published by Nova Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with Business & Economics categories.

Over one million Americans are employed in manufacturing motor vehicles, equipment and parts. But the industry has changed dramatically since the U.S. "Big Three" motor vehicle corporations (General Motors, Ford and Chrysler) produced the overwhelming majority of cars and light trucks sold in the United States, and directly employed many people themselves. By 2003, most passenger cars sold in the U.S. market were either imported or manufactured by foreign-based producers at new North American plants (so-called "transplant" facilities). The Big Three now dominate only in light trucks, and are also now being challenged there by the foreign brands. The Big Three have shed about 600,000 U.S. jobs since 1980, while about one-quarter of Americans employed in automotive manufacturing (nearly 300,000) work for the foreign-owned companies. It is clear that the U.S. automotive industry has undergone many drastic changes that have had a net adverse effect on American interests. This book examines the causes of these changes. Congressional acts, increasingly stringent emission laws, the effects of NAFTA, labour unions and globalisation are all within the scope of this book.
