Photographing People A Guide For Shy Photographers written by Kevin Landwer-Johan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-14 with categories.

Practical teaching and stories related to the author's life experience teach you how to overcome your hesitancy in photographing people. Shy photographers know how uncomfortable it is being photographed. Naturally, we should be more sensitive, more empathetic, and therefore more capable of creating portraits with depth and feeling. Photographing People - A Guide For Shy Photographers is intended to encourage you to take photos of people. Experience has taught me to overcome the feeling of not wanting to impose when I point my camera in the direction of a person. It's also taught me this fear is common, particularly amongst shy photographers. The book, divided into four sections, is designed to guide you through the adventure of learning to photograph people. Each section demonstrates and teaches how you can overcome the fear of not wanting to impose. You will learn how to manage your camera well. You will also learn how to manage your thoughts effectively to deal with the unnecessary fear that inhibits shy photographers from photographing people. My first review: The photos of people I've taken on my travels are my favorite souvenirs. Along the way, though, I know I've missed so many opportunities because I was unprepared or just too shy to ask if I could take a photo. In this book, Kevin describes how he personally overcame shyness to become the awesome portrait photographer that he is. In this down to earth and easy to read text, Kevin provides practical advice on how to be prepared as well as how to approach and communicate with people you'd like to photograph. This is an inspiring little book. I read it while traveling in Mexico and, in the two days after finishing it, I approached three people for photos and, using Kevin's suggestions, they all said "Yes". If you love taking photos of people, you will love this book. I can't recommend it enough! Maryellen, Davis, California, USA

The Civil Contract Of Photography written by Ariella Azoulay and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-14 with Photography categories.

In this groundbreaking work, Ariella Azoulay thoroughly revises our understanding of the ethical status of photography. It must, she insists, be understood in its inseparability from the many catastrophes of recent history. She argues that photography is a particular set of relations between individuals and the powers that govern them and, at the same time, a form of relations among equals that constrains that power. Anyone, even a stateless person, who addresses others through photographs or occupies the position of a photograph’s addressee, is or can become a member of the citizenry of photography. The crucial arguments of the book concern two groups that have been rendered invisible by their state of exception: the Palestinian noncitizens of Israel and women in Western societies. Azoulay’s leading question is: Under what legal, political, or cultural conditions does it become possible to see and show disaster that befalls those with flawed citizenship in a state of exception? The Civil Contract of Photography is an essential work for anyone seeking to understand the disasters of recent history and the consequences of how they and their victims are represented.

The Blind Photographer written by Julian Rothenstein and has been published by Chronicle Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-09-06 with Photography categories.

The blind photographer cannot see a butterfly perched perfectly still on a flower, a bowl of sweet-smelling fruit, or a child's rattle on a darkened floor, but the mind's eye is sharply focused. How then, do blind or partially sighted people capture such extraordinary images? The photographs in this revelatory book suggest a deeper truth: that blindness is itself a kind of seeing, and that those who can see are often blind to the strangeness and beauty of the world around them. As the blind photographer Evgen Bavcar writes, "Photography must belong to the blind, who in their daily existence have learned to become the masters of camera obscura." Through the photographs of more than fifty blind or partially sighted people from around the world, this exhilarating book—the first to explore this phenomenon in all its vibrancy and diversity—will make you see differently.

No Film In My Camera written by Bill Gibson and has been published by Scarecrow Filmmakers Series this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Why would you purposefully shoot scenes with no film in your camera? To find the answer, you will need to read this memoir, in which internationally-known Director/Cameraman Bill Gibson recounts some of his most exciting assignments of the past six decades. His career as a combat cameraman propelled him through World War II with the Navy, the Korean Conflict with the Air Force, and to Vietnam as a civilian on assignment with the U.S. Marines. His stories begin with the harrowing retelling of a kamikaze and torpedo attack against the USS Hornet (the Aircraft Carrier that brought the Doolittle Raiders within striking distance of the Japanese homeland) and continue through time and across space, taking the reader on a rollicking ride through history as told through one man's camera. Gibson offers up riots in Indonesia, uprisings in Africa, and coverage of world leaders that reads like a twentieth-century who's who: FDR, Harry Truman, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Charles Lindbergh, Albert Schweitzer, DeGaulle, John F. Kennedy, Reagan, and many others. He also provides insights into the frustrations and triumphs of America's space program, from his vantage point as a consultant to NASA on the photographic coverage of Apollo 11. In No Film in My Camera, Gibson brings all of these scenes to life, not only with his photography, but also with detail and emotion.
