Es mi único motor, acercar lo escrito a lo sucedido, y encontrar en el pasado respuestas a preguntas que me harán en el futuro. A través de hechos curiosos, episodios olvidados y algunos dislates, pretendo acercarlos a tiempos pretéritos. Las notas de esta obra tienen el único y ambicioso objetivo de convertirse en anzuelos que les despierte la curiosidad sobre la historia. Aspiro a que estos relatos actúen como una invitación a consultar fuentes más confiables e ilustradas. Como autor apasionado no les presento el índice y les deseo buena suerte, los acompaño con un lenguaje ameno y distendido para sortear los intrincados laberintos de la historia. En estas páginas intentaré acercarlos a hechos del pasado sin valerme de una tramposa y tediosa transcripción de datos con rictus académico comúnmente asociada al rigor histórico. Mi energía estuvo enfocada en lograr relatos entretenidos y alejados de un compendio de información enciclopédica. Para la elaboración de cada nota debí utilizar diversas bibliografías, esto deriva indefectiblemente en enfoques diferentes y conclusiones incompatibles. Por ello me valí de un método que bauticé 'rigurosidad distendida' donde con las coincidencias construyo la columna vertebral del relato, pero juego con las diferencias para decorarlo y enriquecer la periferia. Los seguidores del espacio digital 'Pequeñas piezas de la historia', hermano mayor de este libro, notarán que comparte su espíritu y lenguaje. No es falta de creatividad o voluntad, como ya lo dijo el artista plástico Paul Klee 'Uno encuentra su estilo cuando ya no puede hacerlo de otra manera'. Este libro tiene el único y pretencioso objetivo de convertirse en una pieza que ayude a intentar armar el rompecabezas de la historia. Así estaré honrando la frase atribuida a Shakespeare, 'el pasado es prólogo'.
