The exercises conducted by the students are located in the Vallone San Rocco area, falling within an urban area of PUA, and aimed at the care of the domestic and urban space through the experimentation of new forms of collective living, and particular attention to integration. cultural, social and generational. The theme of the living space was declined through the elaboration of different project scales: from the private internal space to the semi-public external space, ending with the collective open space, including agricultural and productive ones. The volume is completed by numerous essays by lecturers from the Department of Architecture, architects and experts demonstrating the transversal and central nature of the topic dealt with in the context of contemporary architectural research.

La pubblicazione raccoglie gli esiti dell’esperienza didattica svolta durante il primo semestre dell’a.a. 2021/22 all’interno dei quattro Laboratori in Composizione architettonica e urbana e Architettura degli interni 2 del Corso di Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico in Architettura 5UE del Dipartimento di Architettura dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli “Federico II”. L’esperienza didattico-laboratoriale si è concentrata sul progetto di una nuova scuola dell’infanzia a via Manzoni, nel quartiere Posillipo a Napoli. Le proposte elaborate dagli studenti hanno provato a rinnovare il concetto di scuola: una scuola-città che diventa punto di riferimento non solo per coloro che quotidianamente ne fanno esperienza, ma anche per il quartiere nella quale essa si inserisce. La scuola è intesa come un’architettura complessa, la cui struttura organizzativa si confronta con i caratteri della morfologia urbana e paesaggistica assumendone, replicandone e rinnovandone principi e caratteri insediativi. Le sperimentazioni progettuali integrano, così, le tre scale del progetto: la scala dell’architettura degli interni, relativa allo spazio della formazione formale e informale, tenendo conto anche di contenuti di carattere pedagogico; la scala dell’edificio, anche in relazione ai rapporti dimensionali e spaziali con l’Ospedale Fatebenefratelli e con la ex Scuola Svizzera progettata da Dolf Schnebli; la scala urbana e paesaggistica relativa all’inserimento nel quartiere di Posillipo, tra l’asse urbano di via Manzoni e la strada rurale di via del Marzano. Il volume raccoglie anche gli scritti di docenti, progettisti e studiosi che sono stati invitati a dare un contributo teorico-metodologico e a partecipare alle revisioni collettive nell’ambito dei laboratori.

The topics of work flexibility, precarious jobs, and the relationship between work, the market and production are subjects that are widely debated in the sociological, philosophical, economic and political spheres. Yet these topics are less touched on in the tradition of pedagogical research. The intention of this book is to build a seedbed for reflection on the central position assumed by work in the lives of every woman and man, inhabitants of a planet in which the transformation of work activities is imposing radical changes on lifestyles, community-building and societies. Work is not an abstract concept, but is incorporated into every human person who does it and into the relationships linking them to others. Man, his education and human formation provide the pivot around which to perform a pedagogical survey within the universe of "work", and inside the relationship between the human condition and working/professional life. What sense does work acquire today when going to observe children, young people, adults or migrants? This book arises from a three-year comparative research program concerning co-operative enterprises in Australia and Italy. It is an intellectual necessity for universities to be open to participation by scholars and students all over the world; despite this, their sources of funding are almost entirely domestic and primarily governmental. The downloading of universities from national to regional government means that funding is increasingly even regional or local. Policy makers, firms and students, who are increasingly funding universities, are not interested in the development of academic knowledge: they demand teaching, research and services that are useful for local economic development and employability. As a consequence there is a divergence between the aspirations of universities and their stakeholders' needs. Establishing beneficial relations between universities and their stakeholders is vital for the survival of European districts and clusters of SMEs. The research highlights how critical the dilemma is and suggests a theoretical framework for resolving it, through the introduction of a new model of governance for universities and a new concept of knowledge.
