The theme of the conference is "Reconstructing Morals, Education, and Social Sciences for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals". This theme was formulated due to several considerations. First, the symptoms of moral decline that have the potential to destroy the nation. Morals guide humanity towards truth and civilization. The phenomenon of the dehumanization process in the industrial era that pushed people to be part of abstract societies tends to ignore humanity. The education process as a humanitarian system is increasingly marginalized, especially during discussions about the industrial revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. The conference placed six sub-themes for speakers and participants to share ideas, namely: Social Sciences and Laws, History and Cultural Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Morals and Humanities, Policy, Politics, and Communication, Education. The committee has received 195 abstracts from prospective speakers. However, there are only 80 abstracts that are eligible to be presented at this conference.

We are delighted to introduce the proceedings of the 3rd International Colloquium on Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies. It is annual event hosted and organised by the Graduate School of State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. It was fully 2 days event 20-21 October 2020 by Virtual (online) mode with 3 keynotes speakers: Prof. Abdel Aziz Moenadil from the University of Ibn Thufail, Maroko, Prof Wael Aly Sayyed from the University of Ain Syams, Cairo, Mesir, and Assoc. Prof. Aria Nakissa, Ph.D. from Harvard University. The proceeding consisted of 41 accepted papers from the total of 81 submission papers. The proceeding consisted of 6 main areas of Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies. They are: Islam and medicine, Islam and Science and Technology, Islam and Psychology, Islam and Education, Quran and Hadits, and Islamic Studies with other various aspects. All papers have been scrutinized by a panel of reviewers who provide critical comments and corrections, and thereafter contributed to the improvement of the quality of the papers. Research in Islamic studies and Muslim societies today also increasingly uses interdisciplinary methods and approaches. In order to produce more objective findings, the researchers looked at the need to combine several methods or approaches to an object of study, so that they had additional considerations needed. These additional considerations add a more comprehensive perspective. In this way, in turn they can come up with better findings. Interdisciplinary Islamic studies dispute that Islam is monolithic, militaristic, and primarily Middle Eastern. We strongly believe that ICIIS conference has become a good forum for all researcher, developers, practitioners, scholars, policy makers, especially post graduate students to discuss their understandings of current processes and findings, as well as to look at possibilities for setting-up new trends in SDG and Islamic Interdisciplinary Studies. We also expect that the future ICIIS conference will be as successful and stimulating, as indicated by the contributions presented in this volume.

Munculnya revolusi Teknologi Media Digital (TMD) tidak bisa kita tolak. TMD telah menjadi bagian sangat penting dalam membentuk pola kehidupan, pekerjaan, budaya dan identitas manusia, baik sebagai pribadi maupun sebagai bangsa. Tidak ada aktivitas yang tidak melibatkan TMD, dan tanpa disadari kita telah menjadi Ôa digital man.Õ Satu hal yang harus diingat adalah bahwa TMD bersifat ambigu, alias mendua. Pada satu sisi ia menimbulkan aspek positif, tetapi ia juga memunculkan efek negatif. Aspek positif dari TMD adalah ia menciptakan banyak kesempatan baru. TMD telah meruntuhkan batas-batas kultural, bahkan geografis. Orang dari berbagai kultur dan belahan dunia bisa berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi secara langsung, face to face. Dunia menjadi seperti kampung kecil (Mcluhan). Namun, TMD juga menimbulkan aspek negatif. Sebagian besar masyarakat dunia, terutama mereka yang berasal dari negara-negara miskin, tidak dapat mengakses TMD. Bagi mereka, harga gawai, untuk mengakses TMD belum terjangkau. Akibatnya, sebagian masyarakat dunia terutama kaum miskin semakin termarjinalkan. Mereka semakin merasa frustrasi di tengah perkembangan jaman. Salah satu dampak lain yang paling memprihatinkan dari TMD adalah penyalahgunaan TMD untuk menciptakan hoax dan ujaran kebencian dengan tujuan memecah-belah relasi antaretnik dan antarumat beragama. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan peningkatan literasi dan kebajikan dalam pemanfaatan TMD. Umat beragama, terutama kaum mudanya, harus mampu bersikap kritis, positif, dan realistis. Memang, TMD bisa mendatangkan berkat bagi kita, tetapi juga bisa menghadirkan kutuk apabila kita tidak waspada dalam penggunaannya. Buku ini sangat bermanfaat karena menuntun kita untuk merespons kehadiran TMD secara bijak dan memanfaatkannya demi kebaikan bersama.
