Malah, dalam arus kemodenan kini sastera turut mengadaptasikan dirinya dalam bidang media. Karya-karya sastera kini muncul dalam bentuk e-sastera, sastera digital, sastera siber dan pelbagai lagi. Buku ini mengupas persoalan-persoalan budaya masyarakat istana dan desa dalam kesusasteraan Melayu tradisional merangkumi sastera tulisan dan juga lisan. Persoalan tentang masyarakat moden dan kontemporari juga turut diberikan perhatian melalui kajian-kajian novel, cerpen dan juga sajak. Penulisan yang melangkaui dimensi antarabangsa turut mendapat perhatian penulis. Budaya masyarakat antarabangsa dipamerkan melalui beberapa karya yang dihasilkan oleh pengarang luar negara. Ia diperlihatkan dalam dimensi perbandingan dan juga persepsi Barat terhadap Timur. Seterusnya, perkaitan sastera dan media pula menonjolkan karya-karya sastera yang telah difilemkan dan juga karya-karya yang muncul dalam bentuk digital di ruang siber. Penulis-penulis telah menunjukkan perubahan yang berlaku apabila sesuatu karya tersebut diadaptasi dan juga bentuk-bentuk baru sastera yang telah muncul dalam era digital. Penulisan buku ini sememangnya ingin membuktikan bahawa bidang kesusasteraan sebenarnya sangat dekat dengan budaya hidup masyarakat dan juga sentiasa memenuhi kehendak zaman.
