Canon 1371, 2 calls for a just penalty to be imposed upon one who is persistently disobedient to a command or prohibition imposed by the apostolic see, an ordinary or other superior. With the goal of arriving at an authentic understanding of the canon, this work begins with a study of the fonts attributed to it, consisting of decisions rendered by pope or a dicastery. A historical approach continues in chapter two, with an examination of relevant CIC 1917 legislation. In addition to a detailed analysis of canon 1371, 2 this work considers jurisprudence of the Roman Curia, presented under the themes of disobedience to the Apostolic See or to one's ordinary; the value and importance of obedience; the need for competent authority to be vigilant and intervene when necessary; and now this intervention can serve as a pastoral instrument for the salvation of souls. This work also undertakes a contemporary and practical reading of canon 1371,2 pointing out that the precept or prohibition imposed must be legitimate, that persistent disobedience must be present, and that the imposed penalty is to be just. It offers conclusions as to why the canon is important for the Church today. Obedience to competent authority on the part of the Christian faithful provides a healthy example to those outside the Church and can help protect the faithful. Proper implementation of what is called for in canon 1371,2can prevent more grave disobedience in the future and promote good order in the Church.

This book on penal law explains the main topics of penal law, with cases and examples of its implementation, using the changed text of Book 6 of the Code of Canon Law that will come into effect on December 8, 2021. Pope Francis has revised Book 6 of the Code of Canon Law, “Penal Sanctions in the Church,” canons 1311-1399. Of these 89 canons, 63 have been changed and others have been renumbered. Changes include a new canon 1376 concerning the crimes of stealing and misappropriation of church property; canon 1398 §2 making the sexual abuse of minors by religious brothers and sisters a crime; c. 1398 §1 no. 2 making grooming a crime. Other changes in canon law since 1983 have been incorporated into the new book 6. These include raising the age for sexual abuse from under age 14 to under age 18; a 1988 law imposing penalties for recording confessions; penalties for the attempted ordination of a woman; penalties for bishops failing to report or take sufficient measures against perpetrators of sexual abuse; and for clerics using pornography of those under age 18.

Although no church is immune to accusations, there are many reasonable and practical ways to reduce the possibilities. —Protestant Reformation's Final Movement / God's End Time Church— In Revelation 3:14-21, God’s end time church is named Laodicea. In those verses, His remnant people are described as having the tendency to evaluate their spiritual condition, and work, at a much higher quality than is Christ’s judgment of it. He states that the Laodicean church, though entrusted with the knowledge of His last warning messages for the world are spiritually “wretched,” “miserable,” “poor,” “blind,” and “naked.” (verse 17). Matthew 25:1-13 is the parable of the ten virgins waiting to attend a wedding feast. In this account Jesus is also describing His remnant people. Christ’s story says that “while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.” (verse 5). This present volume is a Bible and Spirit of Prophecy study regarding the form of, and reasons why, Christ brought His end time people into a highly organized movement. It also describes how Christ’s ordained methods of operating His organization tend to be abused, and even ignored. It explains how His people tend to operate Christ’s publishing, educational, health, and even ministerial work more in harmony with the wisdom and wishes of man and the world than with the clear directives of the Lord whom we claim to be serving. But, all is not gloom and doom. There is counsel as to how to revive from the Laodicean condition. This present volume goes into detail as to what Christ will do to awaken His people. It presents the inspired explanations as to how His remnant will be “shaken” into the condition necessary for Him to be able to pour out upon them the Latter Rain to empower and equip them to give the Loud Cry and thus finish His work upon this earth. Entire chapters are dedicated to the divine instructions regarding the importance of not running ahead of, but cooperating with, Christ in these important dealings with His people. The book charts the new challenges and crises facing the English, Scottish, and Irish states in the early modern age as they contended with the spread of Protestantism and a powerful Tudor monarchy. Constructing a clear narrative of the events and actors of this era of reformations, both political and religious, the book provides an accessible entry point for studying a period of upheaval and transformation, synthesising key research and drawing unexpected connections. Each chapter of the third edition has been revised, with additions including expanded treatments of popular politics, the implementation of the Reformation in the parishes, and England’s global expansion and the Tudor roots of the ‘British empire’. New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.
