Thinking In Perspective written by Andrew Burton and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-15 with Psychology categories.

Originally published in 1978, the main task of this book was to consider the psychology of thinking in relation to the various perspectives from which thought processes were studied at the time. It provided an up-to-date and critical evaluation of current experimental studies of thinking organized within a framework which reflects the separate theoretical orientations and methodologies through which these investigations are carried out. This approach will help the reader to become aware of the complex relationship between the theoretical orientations, the problems selected for investigation and the methods used for studying them. An important underlying theme of the book concerns the relationship between the activities of the thinker and the demands of his environment. As far as is known, this was the only textbook on thinking to deal with the subject matter specifically in terms of theoretical approaches and methods of investigation at the time.

It's impossible to know exactly what other people are thinking, but if a person has perspective, it can be much easier to have an idea of those thoughts. This volume introduces students to the idea of perspective-taking, or seeing things from another person's point of view. Students will learn that perspective-taking can help them build better relationships with friends and family. They will be better able to resolve conflicts if they're thinking about the other person's thoughts and feelings. They'll develop more empathy for people who have different experiences. This book shows students that through perspective-taking, they'll begin to better understand and accept people who are different from themselves.

Critical Thinking And Higher Order Thinking written by Michael F. Shaughnessy and has been published by Nova Science Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-03 with Critical thinking categories.

Are we really serious about critical thinking? Are we really serious about higher order thinking? And are we serious about teaching students to think? And to evaluate, integrate, synthesise, compare and contrast? Some would say yes and some would say no, and others would hedge their bets and provide a long diffuse answer which rambles and circumvents the issue. Critical thinking is much like the weather; people talk about it, but very few people do anything about it. However, the authors of this edited book are out in the field, in classrooms, colleges, universities and libraries across the world trying to enhance critical thinking, promote it and assess and measure its growth and development.

The author focuses on describing and analyzing pre-service teachers’ geometric discourse across different van Hiele levels. The explanatory power of Sfard’s framework provides a rich description of how pre-service teachers think in the context of quadrilaterals. It also contributes to our understanding of human thinking that is illustrated through the analysis of geometric discourse accompanied by vignettes.

Perspectival Realism written by Michela Massimi and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022 with Philosophy categories.

"What does it mean to be a realist about science if one takes seriously the view that scientific knowledge is always perspectival, namely historically and culturally situated? In this book, Michela Massimi articulates an original answer to this question. The book begins with an exploration of how scientific communities often resort to several models and a plurality of practices in some areas of inquiry, drawing on examples from nuclear physics, climate science, and developmental psychology. Taking this plurality in science as a starting point, Massimi explains the perspectival nature of scientific representation, the role of scientific models as inferential blueprints, and the variety of scientific realism that naturally accompanies such a view. Perspectival realism is realism about phenomena (rather than about theories or unobservable entities). The book defends this novel realist view, which places epistemic communities and their situated knowledge center stage. The result is a portrait of scientific knowledge as a collaborative inquiry, where the reliability of science is made possible by a plurality of historically and culturally situated scientific perspectives. Along the way, Massimi offers insights into the nature of scientific modelling, scientific knowledge qua modal knowledge, data-to-phenomena inferences, and natural kinds as sortal concepts. Perspectival realism is ultimately realism that takes the multicultural nature of science seriously and couples it with cosmopolitan duties about how one ought to think about scientific knowledge and the distribution of the benefits resulting from scientific advancements"--
