In Middle-Class Pentecostalism in Argentina: Inappropriate Spirits Jens Köhrsen offers an intriguing account of how the middle class relates to Latin America's most vibrant religious movement. Based on pervasive field research, this study suggests that Pentecostalism stands in tension with the social imaginary of the middle class and is perceived as an inappropriate lower class practice. As such, middle class Pentecostals negotiate the appropriateness of their religious belonging by demonstrating distinctive tastes and styles of Pentecostalism. Abstaining from the expressiveness, emotionality, and strong spiritual practice that have marked the movement, they create a milder and socially more acceptable form of Pentecostalism. Increasingly turning into a middle class movement, this style has the potential to embody the future shape of Pentecostalism.

La segunda edición de Sociedad, vida y teoría, revisada y ampliada, invita al lector a sumergirse en la historia de la teoría sociológica. El enfoque adoptado es el de la Sociología narrativa. Según esta perspectiva, no es posible una verdadera comprensión de las ideas y hallazgos sociológicos a menos que se pongan en relación con las vidas de sus creadores, y estas, a su vez, con sus escenarios histórico-sociales. La descomposición de la sociedad aristocrática europea en el siglo xviii, la consolidación de la sociedad burguesa en el xix y la expansión en los siglos xx y xxi de las sociedades democráticas, con sus problemas y crisis, constituyen el telón de fondo en el que se insertan los más de 300 autores estudiados, entre los que se destacan 63 fundamentales. Se incluyen aportaciones cruciales, procedentes de la Economía, la Antropología, la Historia, la Filosofía o las Ciencias Naturales, de gran valor para la Sociología. A pesar de su extensión, se trata de una lista abierta, no dogmática, donde inevitablemente se advierten ausencias. No están todos los nombres que merecen ser incluidos, pero sí merecen estar todos los que aparecen. En este sentido, se apela a la comprensión del lector para que disculpe alguna ausencia inexcusable o un tratamiento en exceso superficial de algún autor.
