Die Rezeption von Originaltexten der romanischen Literaturen, insbesondere der Lyrik, hat bisher in der hauptsächlich mit Übersetzungen beschäftigten Sekundärliteratur relativ wenig Beachtung gefunden. Die Aufnahme dieser Texte über Vertonungen soll in dem hier rekonstruierten Bestand an profaner Vokalmusik in romanischen Sprachen und den möglicherweise daraus abgeleiteten deutschen Versionen dokumentiert werden. Von den über 15.000 registrierten Liedanfängen werden über 3.700 ihren Autoren zugewiesen und in einem speziellen Index zugänglich gemacht, wobei über 1.000 präzise Nachweise erstmals hier dem bisherigen Stand der Forschung hinzugefügt werden. Die Untersuchung von Umfang und Tiefe der Rezeption von italienischer Literatur im deutschen Sprachraum kann sich fortan mit den hier verzeichneten über 14.000 Liedanfängen auf die konkrete Basis einer im Detail rekonstruierten Sammlung stützen.
