English summary: According to G.E. Moore, all confusions and errors of ethical theory could be disposed of if the subject-matter of ethics was made clear. This is apparent to anyone who poses the question: "What is good?" By reflecting on the things which are "good in themselves" in his book Principia Ethica, G.E. Der vorliegende Band widmet sich der Frage, wie die in geisteswissenschaftlichen Texten propagierten Wissensansprüche nicht allein durch rein rationale, logisch rekonstruierbare Argumentationsaufbauten vertreten und plausibilisiert, sondern auch durch soziale und rhetorische Strategien, nämlich durch die Erzeugung von Pathos und durch die Konstruktion unterschiedlicher Formen von wissenschaftlichem Ethos, befördert werden. Diese Strategien sind korreliert mit dem Aufbau von wissenschaftlichen Personae im Text, deren Eigenarten und Funktionen durch literaturwissenschaftliche Textanalyse rekonstruierbar werden. Die Beiträge des Bandes lassen sich jedoch in erster Linie weniger von einem wissenschaftstheoretischen als vielmehr von einem wissenschaftshistorischen Interesse leiten: Sie leisten einen Beitrag zur historischen Epistemologie der Geisteswissenschaften. Gezeigt wird an exemplarischen Konstellationen, wie und warum es bei der Herausbildung und Durchsetzung moderner Geisteswissenschaften zur Herausbildung spezifischer Ethosformen sowie zum Einsatz pathetischer Redeweisen kam.
