Modeling And Monitoring Of Pipelines And Networks written by Cristina Verde and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-21 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book focuses on the analysis and design of advanced techniques for on-line automatic computational monitoring of pipelines and pipe networks. It discusses how to improve the systems’ security considering mathematical models of the flow, historical flow rate and pressure data, with the main goal of reducing the number of sensors installed along a pipeline. The techniques presented in the book have been implemented in digital systems to enhance the abilities of the pipeline network’s operators in recognizing anomalies. A real leak scenario in a Mexican water pipeline is used to illustrate the benefits of these techniques in locating the position of a leak. Intended for an interdisciplinary audience, the book addresses researchers and professionals in the areas of mechanical, civil and control engineering. It covers topics on fluid mechanics, instrumentation, automatic control, signal processing, computing, construction and diagnostic technologies.

This book gathers the proceedings of the 15th IFToMM World Congress, which was held in Krakow, Poland, from June 30 to July 4, 2019. Having been organized every four years since 1965, the Congress represents the world’s largest scientific event on mechanism and machine science (MMS). The contributions cover an extremely diverse range of topics, including biomechanical engineering, computational kinematics, design methodologies, dynamics of machinery, multibody dynamics, gearing and transmissions, history of MMS, linkage and mechanical controls, robotics and mechatronics, micro-mechanisms, reliability of machines and mechanisms, rotor dynamics, standardization of terminology, sustainable energy systems, transportation machinery, tribology and vibration. Selected by means of a rigorous international peer-review process, they highlight numerous exciting advances and ideas that will spur novel research directions and foster new multidisciplinary collaborations.

"It is a story that is conveyed with ancient artifacts and vintage photographs in a way that makes the early 'discovery' of Egypt come alive." -William H. Peck Curator of Ancient Arts, Detroit Institute of Arts The emergence of Egyptology and photography took place together in Egypt in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It was a time when the world's most important museum of antiquities was developed, when travelers flocked to Egypt, when dealers and fakers of antiquities flourished, and when pashas, khedives, and sultans ruled a land of exquisite mosques and spectacular monuments. From 1850 to 1930, important Egyptologists and archaeologists energetically excavated and uncovered temples, tombs, and works of art. Which for millennia had been hidden under desert sands. At the same time, photographers struggled under relentless Egyptian sun to overcome technological and physical difficulties to record the new finds, as well as the already-known monuments in the Nile Valley. Both disciplines promote new knowledge and interest in ancient Egypt. This book brings that period to life with a wealth of images of sites along the Nile, all selected from the collection of early prints, stereoviews, and postcards housed at the Frank H. McClung Museum at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The prints by pioneer photographers illustrate why people came to Egypt and what it was that seized their imaginations. The book also describes more than fifty ancient objects loaned to the museum to complement its exhibition of the photographs. These objects were excavated and documented in or near many of the photographed sites at which the earnest Egyptologists and image-makers worked. Elaine A. Evans tells an absorbing story of the exploration and documentation of an endlessly fascinating ancient culture by serious practitioners of two emerging disciplines - Egyptology and photography. The Author: Elaine Altman Evans is curator and adjunct assistant professor in the Frank H. McClung Museum at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Review Of The Bureau Of Reclamation S Corrosion Prevention Standards For Ductile Iron Pipe written by National Research Council and has been published by National Academies Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-11-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Ductile iron pipe (DIP) was introduced about 50 years ago as a more economical and better-performing product for water transmission and distribution. As with iron or steel pipes, DIP is subject to corrosion, the rate of which depends on the environment in which the pipe is placed. Corrosion mitigation protocols are employed to slow the corrosion process to an acceptable rate for the application. When to use corrosion mitigation systems, and which system, depends on the corrosivity of the soils in which the pipeline is buried. The Bureau of Reclamation's specification for DIP in highly corrosive soil has been contested by some as an overly stringent requirement, necessitating the pipe to be modified from its as-manufactured state and thereby adding unnecessary cost to a pipeline system. This book evaluates the specifications in question and presents findings and recommendations. Specifically, the authoring committee answers the following questions: Does polyethylene encasement with cathodic protection work on ductile iron pipe installed in highly corrosive soils? Will polyethylene encasement and cathodic protection reliably provide a minimum service life of 50 years? What possible alternative corrosion mitigation methods for DIP would provide a service life of 50 years?
