Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya peningkatan hasil belajar pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan siswa dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran kooperatif. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang melibatkan 36 orang siswa kelas X SMA yang terdiri dari 20 orang perempuan dan 16 orang laki-laki.Beberapa variabel yang diselidiki dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut (1) variabel input yang meliputi siswa, bahan pelajaran, sumber belajar, (2) variabel proses penyelenggaraan kegiatan belajar mengajar, seperti interaksi belajar mengajar, keterampilan bertanya siswa, cara belajar siswa, dan (3) variabel output seperti rasa ingin tahu siswa, kemampuan siswa mengaplikasikan pengetahuan, motivasi belajar siswa, hasil belajar siswa, sikap siswa terhadap pengalaman belajar yang melalui kegiatan perbaikan. Ada empat tahapan yang dilakukan dalam melaksanakan kegiatan penelitian ini, yaitu: tahap perencanaan, implementasi tindakan, observasi dan interpretasi serta analisis dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus penelitian.
