Poemas de uma enfermeira que acredita que sempre podemos fazer algo a mais. Não apenas um banho a mais, ou uma troca a mais, mas também, um sorriso a mais, um abraço a mais, um afeto a mais, uma poesia a mais. O processo do adoecimento é doloroso e cheio de sentimentos negativos, por isso, todo o possível deve ser feito para amenizar a dor, acalmar o sofrimento, e acalentar o coração. Ele estava em um estágio de adoecimento muito avançado, como o primeiro homem, se chamava João. Foi com ele que descobri o valor, o sentido e a razão. Foi após um plantão, corrido, carregado e muito difícil. Após registar o ponto, retornei ao quarto para ler um cordel chamado "Morte e Vida Nordestina". Li, conversei e fui embora. Qual não foi a minha surpresa, quando o seu filho me contou que quando eu sai, ele conversou muito com sua esposa e lhe contou sobre a minha história, sobre a força do povo nordestino enquanto enfrentavam a seca. E então, ele lhe falou: "como esse povo é tão forte e sempre resiste sem desistir, e eles sempre conseguem, a minha vida também é assim. Preciso ficar forte e lutar contra essa doença, pois eu também vou conseguir". Foi rápido, foi curto, mas foi incrível o quanto cada poesia e cordel lhe animavam e lhe deixava feliz. Deixou uma saudade sem fim, que se transformou no "Cordel do Adeus".

Un mosaico de voces dispersas y desesperadas, unidas por la soledad, la angustia y esa desesperanza que se instala en las salas de espera de los hospitales cuando cae la madrugada y quedas a solas con tu dolor.

Pornographic Sensibilities stages a conversation between two fields—Medieval/Early Modern Hispanic Studies and Porn Studies—that traditionally have had little to say to each other. The collection offers innovative new approaches to the study of gendered and sexualized bodies in medieval and early modern textual production, including literary and historical documents. The volume’s embrace of the interpretative tools of Porn Studies also inscribes a critical provocation: in what ways can contemporary modes of reading the past serve to freshly illuminate not only the contours of that same past but also the very critical assumptions of the present upon which fields like medieval and early modern Hispanic Studies are built? In this way, Pornographic Sensibilities encourages at once both rigorous historicizations of pre- and early-modern culture, and playful engagement with "presentism," considered here as a critical tool to undress the hidden assumptions of both past and present. This move substantively challenges long-held critical orthodoxies among scholars of pre-Enlightenment periods, for whom the very category of "pornography" itself has often problematically been framed as an anachronism when applied to their work.
