Queste liriche riportano alla memoria tanti pensieri, forse nemmeno si capisce che tipo di pensieri possono essere, ma sono pensieri di un mondo diverso al di fuori della vita quotidiana, inserita in esso in modo trasversale, senza alcuna comunione con il resto del mondo e del tempo moderno. Il riflesso del tempo andato si ripercuote sull'età facendola vacillare in bilico tra due mondi e due tempi e ci si trova in un tempo non ancora finito ed un altro non ancora cominciato. Una sorta di apatia psicologica che ci porta a gesti inconsueti, al di fuori delle nostre intenzionalità.Il vecchio si sente isolato, non può più contribuire agli altri, né per il lavoro, né per la famiglia. Di solito viene relegato in disparte ed assistito come un sopramobile. L'unica cosa che può fare un vecchio è ricordare quando era giovane, non senza nostalgia e desiderio.

L’amore, sembra sussurrarci la poetessa, resta inafferrabile, indecifrabile, a venti e a settant’anni, una calamita cui non ci si può sottrarre, ma anche un puzzle cui un fauno dispettoso ha sottratto di nascosto un pezzo, e quindi mai completabile (Sei già così lontano, amore, / sei di un altro tempo, / ma mi scivoli accanto ogni giorno / con mani di nebbia). Ma soprattutto irrinunciabile, confessa nei versi più struggenti della raccolta: È stato poco correre insieme / quasi una vita. / La felicità affama.
