Nuestra antología podría acogerse al tipo denominado Extravagante, en el sentido literal del término, puesto que las autoras que figuran en ella (Ada Negri, Elsa Morante, Dacia Maraini, Armanda Guiducci, Lalla Romano) no siguen ni un orden cronológico, ni generacional y sus compiladores también son heterogéneos por procedencia y formación (Giuliana Antonella Giacobbe, de la Universidad de Oviedo, Caterina Duraccio de la Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Eva María Moreno Lago, de la Universidad de Sevilla, Marina Bettaglio, de la Universidad de Victoria, Canadá y Daniel Raffini, de la Università di Roma La Sapienza). El criterio de selección de los textos podría responder al tema compartido en todas ellas de la representación de la mujer, desde un prisma de rebeldía, anticonformismo o abierta oposición a las normas y estereotipos, o la afirmación de ellas mismas como poetas y por lo tanto, la afirmación también de su derecho a escribir y permanecer en la cultura. Ambos temas pueden considerarse como pertenecientes al debate filosófico de la Querella de las Mujeres, que desde la Edad Media-Humanismo recorre Italia a través de la obra de las poetas.

Esta publicación quiere proponer un acercamiento diferente al estudio de la Literatura Italiana que permita profundizar temas de literatura y traducción, relacionados con el género, como la rescritura del canon, la recuperación de autoras olvidadas, la interpretación y análisis de los tex-tos. La publicación de estos resultados en una editorial de impacto como la de la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia permitirá su difusión y su visibilidad entre el profesorado y el alumnado de diferentes universidades españolas y extranjeras. Contemporáneamente, se quiere crear un material didáctico en varios idiomas que pueda permitir al profesorado proponer nuevas temáticas de estudio e investigación, relacionadas con escritoras y escritores filóginos durante su actividad docente.

Variously described as a comedy of manners, a psychological romance, and a type of fabliau, the 13th-century narrative Flamenca is the best medieval romance written in Occitan. Its uniqueness springs from qualities that anticipate the preoccupations of modern-day narrative. Not content with being a love story fraught with risk and intrigue, the poem is layered with responses to the troubadour tradition of love and poetry, as well as the Bible and the classics. Though among the most bookish of romances, its tone is invariably ironic, comic, and satirical. This playfulness may be measured by the variety and vehemence of critical response to the poem. Is it a vindication of the troubadour ideal, a mockery of the Church, a satire on jealous husbands, or an undermining of the ideals that romance is said to inscribe? Or is it all of these elements held in suspense? The introduction confronts these questions. The most recent edition and translation of Flamenca , by Hubert and Porter, is now out of print; their translation was into octosyllabic couplets that match the original. Blodgett's translation is unrhymed and line-for-line, on pages facing the edition; it adhers as closely as possible to the literal meaning of the original. The edition follows the recent text prepared by Gschwind.
