Poetry is for life, not for ivory towers. At Tweetspeak Poetry, it has been our delight to bring poetry to people, right where they are. To bring together established poets and poets taking first steps. And to invite those who thought they could never be a part of poetry to dip in without fear. Because we strongly believe poetry is for life. Somewhere along the way, as part of our poetry merry-making, we opened The Mischief Caf . It's a "welcome" space on our website. But also somewhere along the line, it began to feel like more. Maybe The Mischief Caf should not just be virtual, we started to think. And so it began. The idea of a traveling caf , bringing poetry to people right where they are. In their own homes, amidst friends. With toast (buttered) and tea. It's an idea that's still working itself out, but for now, sometimes a member of our Tweetspeak Poetry team will come to tea with poetry. And sometimes poetry lovers won't want to wait for that. So they'll make a little poetry mischief on their own. This book describes the idea of a Mischief Cafe and how to run one, includes over thirty poems from T. S. Poetry Press titles (and from the conversation with fans that started the idea of this book), and has blank pages for new poems that caf gatherers can write together over time using (or not) the 34 poem title prompts provided throughout. Overall, the book gives you everything you need to run your own Mischief Cafe (or attend one): an explanation you can read aloud at your gathering, poems to share, prompts to inspire. Everything, that is, except the toast (buttered ) and tea.

Cafe Crazy written by Francine Witte and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-05 with categories.

Don't be misled by the title of this book. Though a tomato may scream if you stab it, or the vicissitudes of domestic life lick your ankles below your TV tray like a lupine tongue, there is more method than madness to Francine Witte's portrayal of how crazy interweaves with the mundane in this collection. Read through Cafe Crazy and see just how sure her hand is on the tiller. Life may be fractured, and experience treacherous to navigate, but these poems offer a regenerative and welcome cohesion, guiding us surely through the complex truths and misunderstandings of the Human Experience. This is a voice you can trust to tell the real story; her story-telling gifts are in full force in these poems. Welcome to Cafe Crazy-enter here, though the aperture of a poetic voice in full command of its faculties. -George Wallace, Writer in Residence, Walt Whitman Birthplace In Cafe Crazy, Francine Witte serves up tough, street-smart narrators and injects them with an incurable sense of wit while exercising the imagination to its legal limits. The essence of Witte's work is sometimes dark, sometime playful, but always frighteningly addictive. -Meg Pokrass, author of The Dog Looks Happy Upside Down Francine Witte's Cafe Crazy serves up a series of singed epiphanies, the burn out of not one, but two marriages, their ashy remains. "Not all fires burn the same," the poet warns in the opening poem of this fine collection, and she's right-yet each betrayal burns, each ending leaves scars. This parallel journey of doomed relationships, the poet's and that of her parents', explores how love "gets lost inside somewhere while you're not paying attention." Witte's skill lies in her willingness to go deep, and to spare no one. She longs for love, "But love, like any bird, gets tired of flying and looks for a place to nest." These brave poems rise like the phoenix from the ashes. These are the poems that pull you through. These are the poems that save you. -Alexis Rhone Fancher, author of Enter Here; poetry editor, Cultural Weekly

a regular creative workspace is a serious consideration for every individual poet and artist. solitude and a feeling of freedom are important to allow them to successfully focus on a subject and engage in contest with their elusive creative muse.the rosetta café in calumet, michigan, is the current writing "place" of t. kilgore splake. the rosetta café is the latest of several previous coffee shops that have served as a studio and the source of inspiration for his work.writings in the shoe music press rosetta café chapbook are about the people splake observes at the café during his regular early morning visits. his poems are often judgmental and unflattering. however, a careful reading of them will reflect an honest edgy picture of their day-to-day personal lives. truly, the "graybeard poet's aging dream" reflects a past that clashes with the present, one that seems filled with tourists and those "too young to know real ghosts."includes many full-color photographs by the author.

Short Order written by The Cny Creative Writers Group and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11 with Literary Collections categories.

The writers group known as The Central New York Writers Cafe is comprised of programmers, professors, homemakers, photographers, attorneys, students, artists, optometrists, realtors, retirees, and retailers. They are neighbors you might meet at the grocery store, a Chinese takeout, or at a school board meeting. Every Thursday night they gather at a central cafe to discuss writing, critique their work, and help one another along the personal journey of refining their craft. Short Order is a compilation of their best short stories--fiction and non-fiction, poetry, flash fiction, and tweets. It's a pretty tall order of talent, invention, and clever wordsmithing--a buffet of many genres, styles, and points of view. Short Order is the perfect companion for a quick lunch, waiting in line, an alternative to bad TV, or before turning out the light. Taken in bits and pieces or cover to cover, it's a marvelous example of forging the power of inspiration and the imaginative process into the written word.
