Diese verpflichteten sich in den "Römischen Verträgen" vom 25. März 1957 (www.wikipedia.de) zu einer wirtschaftlichen und atomaren Zusammenarbeit. Die damaligen Gründungsländer, Belgien, Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien, Luxemburg und Niederlande, schufen mit der EWG (Europäische Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft) und der EURATOM den Grundstein der späteren Europäischen Union. Die Grundwerte auf dem die Europäische Union beruht, beschreibt Paraskawopoullos (2001) wie folgt: "Europa ist die Philosophie der Griechen, verbunden mit dem Unbesiegbarkeitsgedanken der Freiheit - Eurropa ist das Rechtsystem der Römer in Verbindung mit dem Unverzichtbarkeitsgedanken der Ordnung - Europa ist nicht zuletzt die Ethik des Christentums, verbunden mit dem übergeordneten Gedanken der Menschenwürde"(Paraskawopoullos, S.; 2001 S.9) [...]

This book presents multidimensional socio-economic transformations taking place in the post-socialist cities located in selected countries of the Central European region. These changes began with the collapse of communism and the centrally planned economy system in the region of Central Europe.
