Die Beschäftigung mit der Kategorie der Zeit hat in der Geschichte der Geisteswissenschaften eine lange Tradition. Der Bogen der Thematisierung von Zeit als Gegenstand der philosophischen Analyse reicht von Aristoteles über Husserl bis zur analytischen Philosophie des 20. Jahrhunderts.Heinrich Bußhoff unternimmt in »Die Zeitlichkeit der Politik« einen dieser Tradition radikal entgegengesetzten Versuch einer sozialwissenschaftlichen Annäherung an das Thema »Zeit«. Insbesondere Politik nimmt Zeit in Anspruch, beginnt an einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt und spielt sich in der Zeit ab, muss also immer auf Zeitressourcen zurückgreifen. Deshalb bestimmt der Autor Politik als »eine spezifische Ausprägung von Leistungen zur Verzeitlichung der Zeit«. Ausgehend von dieser These untersucht der Verfasser zunächst die verschiedenen Relationen von Zeit und Politik als »Zeitverhältnisse der Politik«. In Fortführung dieser Überlegungen geht es darum, Sozialoperationen der Gesellschaft als Zeitoperationen zu identifizieren, Zeitoperationen der Politik wiederum als Sozialoperationen auszuweisen und dies anhand verschiedener Politiken differenziert nachzuweisen. Verschärft wird diese Problematik dadurch, dass »Zeit« keine Ressource ist, die durch Politik oder Gesellschaft einheitlich aktualisiert und in Anspruch genommen werden kann. »Zeit« bleibt vielmehr als Bezugspunkt politischer und gesellschaftlicher Operationen ständiger Veränderung unterworfen. Abschließend beschäftigt sich Heinrich Bußhoff mit der Frage, wie die Politik mit den durch gesellschaftliche Operationen markierten Zeitpunkten umgeht bzw. welche Möglichkeiten der Politik zur Verfügung stehen, selbst solche zeitlichen Markierungen zu setzen.Die hier vorgestellten Überlegungen zur Zeitlichkeit der Politik fallen aus dem üblichen Rahmen der Beschäftigung mit diesem Thema heraus. Sie dürften die Diskussionen dazu nachhaltig prägen.

In his philosophical reflections on the art of lingering, acclaimed cultural theorist Byung-Chul Han argues that the value we attach today to the vita activa is producing a crisis in our sense of time. Our attachment to the vita activa creates an imperative to work which degrades the human being into a labouring animal, an animal laborans. At the same time, the hyperactivity which characterizes our daily routines robs human beings of the capacity to linger and the faculty of contemplation. It therefore becomes impossible to experience time as fulfilling. Drawing on a range of thinkers including Heidegger, Nietzsche and Arendt, Han argues that we can overcome this temporal crisis only by revitalizing the vita contemplativa and relearning the art of lingering. For what distinguishes humans from other animals is the capacity for reflection and contemplation, and when life regains this capacity, this art of lingering, it gains in time and space, in duration and vastness.

Heines Politikverständnis im Übergang von französischer Aufklärung zum Frühsozialismus, seine Europaidee im Spannungsfeld von Nationalismus und Kosmopolitismus, die Revolutionsproblematik, seine geschichtsphilosophische Position, Judenemanzipation als »Probierstein« der Aufklärung, Mythos und Ironie im literarischen Diskurs, sein literarisches Selbstverständnis im Konflikt zwischen Kunstautonomie und »littérature engagée«, die Frage nach der Modernität Heines und der Stand der internationalen Heine-Rezeption. In ihrer Bandbreite und Differenzierung spiegeln die Beiträge - nicht nur von Literaturwissenschaftlern, sondern auch von Philosophen, Historikern und Sozialwissenschaftlern - den aktuellen Stand der gegenwärtigen internationalen Heine-Forschung und weisen u.a. das jüdische Thema als einen der Schwerpunkte des Kongresses aus.
