Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Politik - Politisches System Deutschlands, Note: 1,3, Universität Augsburg, Veranstaltung: Politische Theorie: Politik und Psychologie, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der derzeitigen allgegenwärtigen Politik- und Demokratieverdrossenheit in Deutschland. Sie zeichnet in einem ersten Schritt die theoretischen Grundlagen der politischen Sozialisation nach. In einem zweiten Schritt werden die Herausforderungen der politischen Bildung im Kontext des Werte- und Gesellschaftswandels analysiert. Abschließend werden die sich aus der Analyse ergebenden Konsequenzen für die politische Bildung erörtert, welche zu einer Überwindung der Systemverdrossenheit beitragen könnten. Nicht erst seit dem Jahr 2000 ist Politikverdrossenheit in aller Munde. Neu und alarmierend ist jedoch, dass dieser Politikverdrossenheit neuerdings eine Demokratieverdrossenheit, also eine Unzufriedenheit mit dem System, zugrunde liegt. Diese Systemverdrossenheit lässt sich unter anderem auf einen Mangel an politischer Bildung zurückführen. Trotz der Kenntnis dieser Tatsache ist es bei politischen Lippenbekenntnissen und der Forderung nach politischer Bildung geblieben, ohne diese jedoch tatsächlich zu fördern. Im Gegenteil, insbesondere nach den Ergebnissen der PISA-Studien wurde die politische Bildung zugunsten der Förderung naturwissenschaftlichen Fächer weiter zurückgedrängt. Dabei könnte sich gerade die Systemverdrossenheit, aufgrund eines Informationsmangels über das System und die für das System essenzielle Notwendigkeit der politischen Partizipation als Chance für die Politik erweisen. Falls dies nämlich der Fall sein sollte, könnte die Politik mit einer wiedereingeführten politischen Bildung, im Sinne von Werteerziehung, dagegen steuern. Sollte sich die Politikverdrossenheit dagegen als Ergebnis einer tiefergehenden, bewusst reflektierten Systemunzufriedenheit herausstellen, wird es die Politik ungleich schwerer haben diese Systemkritik durch Abwesenheit politischer Beteiligung zu beheben, wie diese Arbeit zeigt.

This seminar paper deals with those symbols: it will look at symbols in the awakening of a new Scottish identity, will consider the choice of buildings for a new Parliament and most importantly look at the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999 and 2004. The new Scottish Parliament itself is a place of strong symbolic content- the reason why this seminar paper will focus on it as well. Within the span of a generation, Nazi Germany’s former capital, Berlin, found a new role as a symbol of freedom and resilient democracy in the Cold War. This book unearths how this remarkable transformation resulted from a network of liberal American occupation officials, and returned émigrés, or remigrés, of the Marxist Social Democratic Party (SPD). This network derived from lengthy physical and political journeys. After fleeing Hitler, German-speaking self-professed "revolutionary socialists" emphasized "anti-totalitarianism" in New Deal America and contributed to its intelligence apparatus. These experiences made these remigrés especially adept at cultural translation in postwar Berlin against Stalinism. This book provides a new explanation for the alignment of Germany’s principal left-wing party with the Western camp. While the Cold War has traditionally been analyzed from the perspective of decision makers in Moscow or Washington, this study demonstrates the agency of hitherto marginalized on the conflict’s first battlefield. Examining local political culture and social networks underscores how both Berliners and émigrés understood the East-West competition over the rubble that the Nazis left behind as a chance to reinvent themselves as democrats and cultural mediators, respectively. As this network popularized an anti-Communist, pro-Western Left, this book identifies how often ostracized émigrés made a crucial contribution to the Federal Republic of Germany’s democratization.

A new history explains how and why, as it prepared to enter World War II, the United States decided to lead the postwar world. For most of its history, the United States avoided making political and military commitments that would entangle it in European-style power politics. Then, suddenly, it conceived a new role for itself as the world’s armed superpower—and never looked back. In Tomorrow, the World, Stephen Wertheim traces America’s transformation to the crucible of World War II, especially in the months prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. As the Nazis conquered France, the architects of the nation’s new foreign policy came to believe that the United States ought to achieve primacy in international affairs forevermore. Scholars have struggled to explain the decision to pursue global supremacy. Some deny that American elites made a willing choice, casting the United States as a reluctant power that sloughed off “isolationism” only after all potential competitors lay in ruins. Others contend that the United States had always coveted global dominance and realized its ambition at the first opportunity. Both views are wrong. As late as 1940, the small coterie of officials and experts who composed the U.S. foreign policy class either wanted British preeminence in global affairs to continue or hoped that no power would dominate. The war, however, swept away their assumptions, leading them to conclude that the United States should extend its form of law and order across the globe and back it at gunpoint. Wertheim argues that no one favored “isolationism”—a term introduced by advocates of armed supremacy in order to turn their own cause into the definition of a new “internationalism.” We now live, Wertheim warns, in the world that these men created.
