Differences At Work Practicing Critical Diversity Literacy written by Melissa Steyn and has been published by Common Ground Research Networks this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-21 with Business & Economics categories.

This handbook provides practical tools and concepts forged from international best practice, and sharpened in the context of post-apartheid South Africa, that can be used to build critical diversity literate organizations. Organizations the world over – from nonprofits to large corporations, and secondary schools to massive intergovernmental institutions – increasingly tip into crisis as they fail to meet the challenges of diverse and complex societies. Their durability is tested by how they deal with difference, and whether they break out of dominant ways of thinking about culture, merit, and success. This book is thus designed to contribute to the ongoing conversation between the strategic imperatives of organizational leaders, and the day-management of diversity interventions by diversity practitioners and human resources specialists. The authors present the CDL model in an easily understandable and practically implementable format that is grounded as much in rigorous academic research as it is in thousands of hours of industry experience. Six prominent, active critical diversity literacy practitioners offer concrete advice and insights into addressing racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, and other oppressive dynamics. The text offers guidance on: · Analyzing what has changed in the local and global environment of the contemporary organization, and how to ‘read’ these challenges; · Identifying the warning signs of crisis, and addressing issues before they arise by building a responsive and flexible style of leadership; · Using the Critical Diversity Literacy framework to secure organizational alignment; · Theorizing how change happens within organizations; · Meeting and overcoming resistance from entrenched power interests; · Designing training and organizational development interventions.

The Consistent Preferences Approach to Deductive Reasoning in Games presents, applies, and synthesizes what my co-authors and I have called the 'consistent preferences' approach to deductive reasoning in games. Briefly described, this means that the object of the analysis is the ranking by each player of his own strategies, rather than his choice. The ranking can be required to be consistent (in different senses) with his beliefs about the opponent's ranking of her strategies. This can be contrasted to the usual `rational choice' approach where a player's strategy choice is (in different senses) rational given his beliefs about the opponent's strategy choice. Our approach has turned out to be fruitful for providing epistemic conditions for backward and forward induction, and for defining or characterizing concepts like proper, quasi-perfect and sequential rationalizability. It also facilitates the integration of game theory and epistemic analysis with the underlying decision-theoretic foundation.

Until around 10,000 BC art in Europe appears to have been in advance of the rest of the world and throws light on the total history of early man. The great masterpieces of cave-painting at Lascaux are well known, and one tradition of early sculpture is from the first surprizingly classical. With the shelter paintings of the Spanish Levant and the clay modelling and painted pottery of eastern Europe in the fourth and third millennia BC fresh artistic problems were tackled. Later still evolved the high technical accomplishment of the metal-workers, and this study concludes with an account of the new departures of Celtic La Tene art of the last four centuries BC.
