Questo libro esplora la questione degli automatismi a cui a vario titolo – sia individualmente che socialmente – siamo assoggettati: le tendenze irriflesse naturali; le abitudini apprese e, dunque, la “seconda natura”; i dispositivi stereotipici di impronta sociale o politica. L’idea di fondo, che il libro percorre lungo direzioni anche molto diverse tra loro (dalla sociologia del digitale all’uomo artigiano, dall’ecologia all’antropologia della tecnica, dal teatro sperimentale alla scrittura automatica) è che tali automatismi vadano pensati congiuntamente, affinché un’eventuale strategia di disautomatizzazione possa “prendere corpo” sul piano storico-materiale. Il nucleo di tale strategia consiste in una rivalutazione del corpo e delle sue capacità di deviazione (clinamen) internamente alla tendenza (conatus) alla ripetizione automatica in cui si trova immerso. La questione di quali modalità di apprendimento dei nostri automatismi siano oggi spendibili sul piano critico va quindi di pari passo con l’indagine su una forma di apprendimento che lasci spazio alle resistenze del corpo: al suo essere mediazione vivente tra differenti livelli di automatismo ma anche al suo essere apertura di spazi espressivi.
