This report presents the final evaluation results of the project “Disposal of persistent organic pollutants and obsolete pesticides and implementation of sound pesticides management in Benin” (GCP/BEN/056/GFF), implemented by FAO and the Government of Benin from March 2015 to September 2021. The project is consistent with the country and its partners’ priorities. The project was able to implement the farmer field school approach, integrated production and pest management (IPPM) and relevant partnerships. Nevertheless, gaps in pesticide life cycle management were identified and corrective measures proposed. Regulatory framework has been strengthened as well as national capacities in decontaminating polluted sites, securing obsolete pesticides and persistant organic pollutants, analysing polluted soil samples, recycling and managing empty pesticide containers, and testing and adopting IPPM-based alternative techniques and systems.

The book aims to provide city administrators and planners with a tool to accompany them in experimenting with the regeneration of no longer used parts of the built heritage, called leftovers, by adopting an innovative approach. A new and radically different form of project, with the task of proposing a new aesthetic code and a style of thought aimed at creating shelters for nomads of the third millennium. In the design field, the 21st century will be destined to measure itself against temporariness and precariousness, also in terms of aesthetic practices. Based on this hypothesis, the text identifies the design of the unfinished as the perspective for attributing to the leftovers a character, which is representative of the conditions of the just begun century. Through a transdisciplinary, exhibition-like and reversible approach, the elements of degradation of the existing work are welcomed in the project as a "gift", to be translated into a syntax aimed at giving form and meaning to the internal and external environments, with the inclusion of "additional components".

Project Report from the year 2012 in the subject Biology - Parasitology, Atlantic International University, language: English, abstract: BACKGROUND: Intestinal parasitic diseases are among the most common diseases globally and for this reason, it is very important to study its occurrence and its degree of risk in contamination. No previous record is available in the municipality of Porto Novo, hence the necessity of this study. AIMS: To obtain the occurrence of common intestinal parasites among the inhabitants of Porto Novo municipality. Stool testing performed on 391 subjects between March to June, 2011 age ranging from 11 months to 82 years old, 141 (36.06%) were infected with one or more of the intestinal parasites. Among protozoa, Entamoeba coli (22.51%), Entamoeba Histolytica/Dispar (7.67%) and Giardia Lamblia (5.90%) were the most isolated intestinal parasites and among the helminths, Hymenolepis nana (2.30%), Ancylostoma Duodenale (1.28%) and Trichuris Trichuria (0.51%) were isolated. Age distribution did not show a definite pattern of infectivity rather females (24.60%) were mainly infected than males (11.50%). Hence, concluded that intestinal parasites pose a serious public health problem in the municipality of Porto Novo and that its degree of contamination is still high, therefore, treatment measures, National deworming programs at schools and sanitary improvement strategies is advocated for the population of the municipality to reduce and or eradicate this sporadic problem.

Transforming Vòdún examines how musicians from the West African Republic of Benin transform Benin’s cultural traditions, especially the ancestral spiritual practice of vòdún and its musical repertoires, as part of the process of healing postcolonial trauma through music and ritual. Based on fieldwork in Benin, France, and New York City, Sarah Politz uses historical ethnography, music analysis, and participant observation to examine three case studies of brass band and jazz musicians from Benin. The multi-sited nature of this study highlights the importance of mobility, and diasporic connections in musicians’ professional lives, while grounding these connections in the particularities of the African continent, its histories, its people, and its present.
