Esta é uma obra escrita a quatro mãos. Na verdade, é o registro de um conjunto de práticas que, ao longo de nossa vida profissional, adquirimos e aperfeiçoamos. Profissionais de sala de aula, por anos a fio, sentíamos necessidade de ter em um único volume o material que levaríamos para a classe, já com toda a teoria a ser trabalhada; não só sintetizada, mas exposta da forma como sempre fizemos – simplificada – em tom de um bate papo, como se conversássemos com nosso aluno. Outro aspecto fundamental para nós era ter um bom volume de questões de bancas organizadoras variadas: partilhamos da opinião de que não se consegue sistematizar o uso da língua portuguesa sem a prática. As gramáticas tradicionais não trazem questões; apresentam a teoria de forma que, muitas vezes, confunde em vez de esclarecer. Além disso, é fundamental ter uma análise discursiva no tratamento das questões gramaticais, como as bancas e o Enem fazem; uma abordagem que parte do uso efetivo da língua materna.Pensamos também em outro aspecto: o aluno do ensino médio é integrante de uma sociedade que cobra a capacidade de ser flexível. Assim, ele pensa em terminar seus estudos, foca no Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (a nova porta da Universidade de um modo geral) e ainda adianta a preocupação com o que fazer profissionalmente. Assim, chegamos a um consenso: deveríamos ter questões de vestibulares tradicionais, teríamos que dedicar uma parte da obra ao ENEM e – por que não – acrescentar questões de concursos públicos. Temos uma obra atualizada e moderna, atendendo a necessidade e a ansiedade que o jovem traz no seu processo educativo e no mercado de trabalho.Como Gramática por si só não deve ser vista de modo descontextualizado, pensamos em uma estratégia: além dos capítulos que tratam da produção do texto e das teorias relativas aos gêneros, inserimos em cada capítulo uma seção - “Pra começo de conversa” – que contextualiza aquele conteúdo, além de trazermos um arremate de interpretação textual por capítulo, habilidade indispensável para a formação do leitor/usuário da língua.Foi assim que concluímos este volume: muitas horas de trabalho, construindo juntos a teoria, em um laboratório de Universidade – onde havia máquinas paralelas disponíveis a nós, em nossos intervalos de aula. A realização de uma parceria harmônica que tem como meta ajudar o aluno a, mais do que estudar português, gostar dessa língua maravilhosa que traz possibilidades múltiplas de abordagem, entendimento e uso.
