When you open Postcards From The Soul, you'll see into the depths of the often-hidden emotions of people who have shared extraordinary experiences. This collection of postcards is both moving and illuminating. The emotions are raw and genuine. Every postcard tells a piece of the life story of a real person. Maybe even somebody you know. These postcards resonate because they reflect a universal condition: Living in the face of adversity. They speak to all people wanting to have a sense of belonging and to be loved, heard, safe, and respected. They often reflect loss, abuse, abandonment, hurt, and the mental health and addiction struggles of the postcard author or of someone close to them. By sharing their inner-most thoughts, the creators of these postcards hope that you will have a better understanding of some of the struggles they endured, and that through their sharing you will want to make a difference for someone else who may be facing adversity in their lives.

It all started with a postcard, but it ends with heartbreak. The heart knows no bounds when it comes to love. Aristotle once said, "Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies." Now a successful writer and active Parisian, Rochelle thinks she has found her soul mate. Years later after the secret that brought her to Paris is exposed, her heart betrays her. She risks everything to follow her heart, knowing her soul will never be complete without him. How will she save her husband, her family, and her writing when her heart belongs to someone else? In this novella from the Postcards from Paris series, Rochelle Addams discovers truly what it means to be bound to another, heart and soul.

Haunting postcard images of the non-Western world from a century ago. The antique postcards depicted here were acquired in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by Western tourists, business people, traders, and colonialists. The circumstances in which the cards were sent, and the details of those who sent them, are largely lost. Yet the audience for collecting them has enjoyed a spectacular growth in recent years and includes not only those with the collecting instinct or the desire to travel but also artists, photographic historians, fashion and jewelry specialists, and designers everywhere. Once it was believed that by taking someone's portrait you stole that person's soul. Here, the human subjects have a powerful presence because they express a deep-seated connection with the land and customs that gave them their identities. Their stories are implicit in their eyes, their costumes, and their postures. Reproduced with complete fidelity, these postcards take us on a magical journey across the world in five travelogues, depicting Asia, the Arab Lands, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania. The book is introduced by one of the greatest and most successful travel writers of our time.

A. T. Nager (author of the far future SF novel STAR MATE: Cosmopolis, City of the Universe) began writing poetry as a child. He's been a published poet since age 19. The collection in Post Cards to my Soul covers most of his poetry written ages 15-23. They are a varied, turbulent blend of sensations, broken heart, lost loves (and some very sunny, steamy affairs gone good), in addition to political, religious, and philosophical ponderings. Most of all, A. T. Nager at an early age became an artist with words, loving various influences from music, literature, and art. Among his many favorite poets to name just a quick few, in no particular order, spanning millennia: Pablo Neruda, Catullus, Rainer Maria Rilke, Psalmist, Sappho, T. S. Eliot, W. H. Auden, Edgar Allan Poe, and... the line stretches around the block. In music, his influences range from Mozart to Junior Walker to John Coltrane to Bob Dylan to Steve Miller (and many more). In art, he has many favorites again and to name just a few: Rembrandt, for his use of darkness to emphasize light and personality in his subjects; Botticelli, for Simonetta Vespucci and Primavera and Venus; the ancient Pompeiian wall artist for the Primavera; and many more. A. T. Nager let loose with his pen and scraps of paper while smoking and drinking coffee in various student dives around New Haven, Manhattan, Boston, and Storrs, capturing the moment and its interior explosive reflections. It's life like puddles on a rainy day, reflecting neon as we hustle by the bus stop. Or, as he later observed, all literature (make that art; no make that all life) is the Love Story. He has been a professional writer since age 17 (summer interne news reporter). He started writing his first novel at age 15, and after at least five major rewrites completed it at age 19 while living in a dorm at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. "Nearly all of us either have had or have heard of an experience in which a soul already departed reaches back to us who have been left behind.... Sometimes, it's no more than a whisper, a familiar smell in the air, or just the feeling of presence as vivid as when the loved one was still alive. These moments are just that...moments, a glimpse behind the veil; not a letter from heaven, but a postcard." (Dan Gordon, Postcards from Heaven) A postcard from heaven is not a revelation from on high -- rather, it's "a whisper, a familiar smell in the air, or just the feeling of presence" of someone who's passed away. It is just enough of a message to imply that what we call life is not ended by what we call death. Dan Gordon has been receiving these postcards all his life -- from his father, his older brother, and his son Zaki, who was killed in a car accident when he was only twenty-two. Postcards from Heaven is the beautiful, inspirational memoir of four generations of a remarkable family and how they remain interconnected, a part of one another's stories, even after passing to the other side. Here is the span of his father's long life, moving and funny, from the Russian Revolution to his improbable Depression-era courtship of a woman named Goddess -- Gordon's mother -- to his spiritual later years in Israel; his incorrigible older brother's mischievous magic, able to find humor even in cancer treatment; and his brilliant son, a natural storyteller who looked destined to follow his father into the movie business. These are the stories of their lives on earth as well as after death. Full of humor, compassion, and love, Postcards from Heaven comforts and assures us that those we loved can reach back to those of us still on earth -- and, if only we are attentive enough to listen, we can hear them say, Got here safe. It's really beautiful. Much love, till we meet again.
