Signs Of The Times written by Juan Luis Segundo and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1993 with Religion categories.

These essays offer a probing entry into the work of one of Latin America's deepest and most challenging proponents of liberation theology. Editor Alfred Hennelly has selected and briefly introduces the most important and representative of Juan Luis Segundo's voluminous writings from the last 20 years; most of them never before available in English. At once insightful and polemical, Segundo is drawn to the thick of today's theological controversies. He explores such areas as christology, revelation, the option for the poor, the future of liberation theology, Ignatian spirituality, and the meaning of the recent quincentenary of Columbus' arrival in the "New World".

Wilhelm Wundt In History written by Robert W. Rieber and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Psychology categories.

In this new millenium it may be fair to ask, "Why look at Wundt?" Over the years, many authors have taken fairly detailed looks at the work and accomplishments of Wilhelm Wundt (1832-1920). This was especially true of the years around 1979, the centennial of the Leipzig Institute for Experimental Psychology, the birthplace of the "graduate program" in psychology. More than twenty years have passed since then, and in the intervening time those centennial studies have attracted the attention and have motivated the efforts of a variety of historians, philosophers, psychologists, and other social scientists. They have profited from the questions raised earlier about theoretical, methodological, sociological, and even political aspects affecting the organized study of mind and behavior; they have also proposed some new directions for research in the history of the behavioral and social sciences. With the advantage of the historiographic perspective that twenty years can bring, this volume will consider this much-heralded "founding father of psychology" once again. Some of the authors are veterans of the centennial who contributed to a very useful volume, edited by Robert W. Rieber, Wilhelm Wundt and the Making of a Scientific Psychology (New York: Plenum Press, 1980). Others are scholars who have joined Wundt studies since then, and have used that book, among others, as a guide to further work. The first chapter, "Wundt before Leipzig," is essentially unchanged from the 1980 volume.

From Goethe To Gundolf written by Roger Paulin and has been published by Open Book Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-24 with Literary Criticism categories.

From Goethe to Gundolf: Essays on German Literature and Culture is a collection of Roger Paulin’s groundbreaking essays, spanning the last forty years. The work represents his major research interests of Romanticism and the reception of Shakespeare in Germany, but also explores a broader range of themes, from poetry and the public memorialization of poets to fairy stories - all meticulously researched, yet highly accessible. As a comprehensive examination of German literary history in the period 1700-1900, the collection not only includes accounts of the lives and work of Goethe, Schiller, the Schlegels, and Gundolf (amongst others), serving to nuance our understanding of these figures in history, but also considers diverse (and often underexplored) topics, from academic freedom to the rise of travel literature. The essays have been reformulated, corrected, and updated to add references to recent works. However, the core foundations of the originals remain, and just as when they were first published, the value of these essays – to researchers, students, and all those who are interested in German literary history – cannot be overstated.

Karl Barth And The Making Of Evangelical Theology written by Clifford B. Anderson and has been published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-01-15 with Religion categories.

Swiss theologian Karl Barth traveled to the United States only once during his long career. In 1962, newly retired, he came to visit family and to deliver a series of lectures subsequently published (by Eerdmans) as Evangelical Theology: An Introduction, which remains in print and widely read to this day. Besides recounting some delightful and poignant biographical details about Barth s two-month journey through the States, the authors of this book revisit central themes in Barth s mature theology and explore the theological and ethical significance of his Evangelical Theology. Even more, the distinguished scholars contributing to this volume assess contemporary North American theology and show how Barth s Evangelical Theology remains as bracing, powerful, and relevant today as it was fifty years ago.
