Population Displacement in Lithuania in the XXth Century: Experiences, Identities and Legacies is an edited volume written by historians from several countries offering a series of ground-breaking case studies on forced migration in Lithuania during and between the two World Wars. Die Armia Krajowa war im Zweiten Weltkrieg die zentrale Trägerin des bewaffneten Widerstandes im polnischen Untergrundstaat. "Propaganda war ein wesentliches Mittel nationalsozialistischer Herrschaft. Nachdem Gewalt und Anpassung die deutschen Medien der NS-Propaganda dienstbar gemacht hatten, dehnte sich ihr Einfluss mit der Expansion des 'Dritten Reiches' auch auf die eingegliederten und besetzten Gebiete aus. Besonders radikal war das deutsche Vorgehen während des Zweiten Weltkrieges in Polen: Polnische Massenmedien, allen voran die Presse, wurden nach der Eroberung des Landes vollständig verboten. An ihre Stelle trat eine neuartige Besatzungspresse mit Organen für Deutsche und Polen, Besatzer und Besetzte. In Krakau, dem Zentrum des deutschen Besatzungsregimes im sog. Generalgouvernement, erschienen vom Herbst 1939 bis Anfang 1945 die beiden massgeblichen Blätter: die 'Krakauer Zeitung' und der 'Goniec Krakowski'. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die Strukturen und Inhalte der Pressepropaganda und fragt nach ihren Absichten und Wirkungen. Mit ihren propagandistischen Aussagen verfolgte die Besatzungspresse gegensätzliche, komplementäre Ziele: einerseits die Ermutigung der Besatzer, andererseits die Entmutigung der Besetzten"--From publisher's web site.
