This pocket guide has been designed to familiarize readers with the principles, goals, tools and techniques of the Praxis framework. It provides an overview of the Praxis process models and management functions, and an understanding of the interpersonal skills required of a P3 (project, program, portfolio) manager. The content of this pocket guide is derived from the Praxis framework.org website, which is available free of charge under a Creative Commons license. APM, the Association for Project Management, has also published the Praxis Framework. Praxis is a framework for the management of projects, programs and portfolios (P3M). The Praxis framework brings together a body of knowledge, methodology, competence framework and capability maturity model into a single integrated framework with a single structure and terminology. No more need for mapping and translation between different guides. There is no such thing as a typical project, program or portfolio and Praxis is not prescriptive in the way its components are applied. The framework is designed to provide building blocks of the discipline of P3 management that can be tailored and assembled to suit all manner of different contexts. The aim is to define the building blocks and is based on the concept of a functional analysis. A key concept of Praxis is that the dividing lines between projects, programmes and portfolios are blurred. Some ventures will exhibit characteristics of all three. The underlying principle is that the terms project, programme and portfolio simply represent points on a continuum that is described by the complexity of the work being managed. Therefore, wherever appropriate, a function is described in terms of its general application and then by its adaptation to increasing complexity. The Knowledge section integrates with all the other sections of Praxis. Each function describes the procedures, tools and techniques that can be used in management processes. In return the Method section provides a structure for the use of the functions within the lifecycle.

Enabling Praxis written by Stephen Kemmis and has been published by Brill / Sense this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Education categories.

In a range of professions, professional practice today is under threat. It is endangered, for example, by pressures of bureaucratic control, commodification, marketization, and the standardisation of practice in some professions. In these times, there is a need for deeper understandings of professional practice and how it develops through professional careers. Enabling Praxis: Challenges for education explores these questions in the context of initial and continuing professional education of teachers. It presents a theory of the development of praxis--morally committed action oriented by tradition--to show the ways praxis is enabled and constrained by the cultural-discursive, material and social-political conditions under which professional practice occurs. It introduces the notion of 'practice architectures' to show how particular conditions for practice shape the possibilities of praxis. The way these processes work is illustrated by detailed exploration of a number of cases of praxis development in a variety of educational settings, at a variety of levels--in teacher education for schools and for vocational education and training, in the continuing professional education of teachers, in educational administration, and in informal, community-based education for sustainability initiatives. The book provides conceptual resources that permit deeper analysis of the character, conduct and consequences of professional practice. It concludes with challenges for education, and for initial and continuing teacher education, suggesting that the contemporary threats to education as a professional practice call for revitalisation of the profession, professional bodies and the intellectual traditions that orient and guide educational practice.

A pragmatic approach to knowledge management that integrates normative, strategic, and operational considerations is presented in this introduction to applying knowledge-management theory in business. Best practices and sound praxis from international organizations provide strategic drivers, measurements, and baselines for identifying relevant knowledge and information. Emphasis is placed on creating a comprehensive, shared language of knowledge management that is accessible to junior, middle, and senior managers; translating theory into simple implementation steps; and providing a framework for embedding knowledge management into organizations.

Strategy Praxis written by George Tovstiga and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-30 with Business & Economics categories.

This book introduces a different approach to thinking about and engaging with strategy in the practice field. The insight-driven, first principles-based approach to strategising and strategic problem-solving developed in this book provides a conceptually rigorous yet pragmatic approach to strategising, and as such the book addresses deficiencies of the current theory-practice gap in the strategy field. In particular, the author introduces and develops a conceptually rigorous approach to the crucial transition stage from strategic analysis to strategic option formation in the strategy process. The book introduces several new concepts such as the firm's unique competing space and its strategic boundaries, the strategic thinking algorithm, and shows how these, when integrated with existing approaches and first-principles thinking, significantly enhance the coherence and effectiveness of strategic problem-solving in practice. Additionally, the book includes supplementary enhancing features throughout the chapters in the form of Praxis Reflections, Praxis Perspectives, and Praxis Cases that tie the concepts and methods presented to real-world strategy practice. This book will appeal not only to strategy practitioners, but also academic researchers and graduate-level students of strategic management.

Back To The Rough Grounds Of Praxis written by Daniel Franklin Pilario and has been published by Peeters Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

"What is 'praxis'? How do we study theology from its perspective?" These are the main questions which this book seeks to answer. As 'propaedeutic' to theological reflection, it surveys the notion of 'praxis' in the philosophical, sociological and anthropological traditions - from Aristotle and Marx to contemporary theories. It argues that Pierre Bourdieu's 'theory of practice' achieves a critical synthesis of these different traditions making it a viable theological dialogue-partner. Bourdieu provides us with a praxeological theory to scrutinize the complexity of the social realm and an epistemological theory to understand the mystery of God's presence in these socio-historical conjunctures which serve as the privileged and only locus of His/Her revelation. The author thus engages two theologians who take 'praxis/practice' as central to their theological methods: Clodovis Boff (liberation theology) and John Milbank (radical orthodoxy). From the perspective of its appropriated framework, this work attempts to avoid the limitations as well as preserves the gains achieved by these two approaches - as it also explores the rudiments of a theological method relevant to our post-Marxist and postmodern-global contexts.

Learning To Mentor As Praxis written by Lily Orland-Barak and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-03-10 with Education categories.

Lily Orland-Barak offers us a breathtaking work of science ?ction. Or perhaps I should say ‘science and ?ction. ’ The science side of the equation employs sophisticated technique for observing and describing interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics among professionals in education. Both dramatic and seemingly ordinary episodes in the lives of teachers in relational tension with one another are analyzed with scienti?c care, precision, and insight. The scienti?c study of mentoring is like the scienti?c study of soap bubbles – their formation, growth, and sudden exit from the visible world with a nearly soundless ‘pop!’ Scienti?c and intellectual tools can be used to describe and predict the behavior of soap bubbles, to study their colors, shapes, surface tension, and tiny mass. The same is true of the study of mentoring. But in both cases, the greatest care must be taken to avoid popping the almost m- ically elegant form – to avoid destroying the delicate relationship by rushing in, by heavy attempts at control, or by premature dissection, or even by paying attention too intensely to a private, personal relationship. Mentoring is best studied by being still, by listening with authentic interest, and by using our peripheral vision. The science and the scientist have done their best work here. The ?ction side of this ?ne book gives life to telling examples of mentoring in action.

Critical Leadership Praxis For Educational And Social Change written by Katie Pak and has been published by Teachers College Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021 with Education categories.

"In this edited volume, contributors draw on the work of Andrade and Morrell (2008) in articulating critical leadership praxis, as well as critical race theory and critical education leadership scholarship, in order to "offer new and generative theories of change; they make explicit power dynamics, social inequities, and taken-for-granted forms of stratification in educational organizations with the primary purpose of offering specific and useful frames, concepts, and practices to educational leaders that they can adopt in their own work. The goal is for educational leaders to develop their sense of agency and and their knowledge and professional competencies for taking an equity and inquiry stance in their work of transforming the organizations and people around them." The work is intended to provide a counter narrative to a broad literature in educational leadership that "reinscribe white middle-class male leadership styles, values, and priorities as an assumed and normative backdrop, both in terms of the frames used and the values and epistemologies promoted." The work is organized into four sections: Transforming Self; Transforming Educators; Transforming Organizations; and Transforming Systems. Contributors include practicing leaders, doctoral students with leadership experience, and leadership faculty and researchers"--
