"Preferisco una Chiesa accidentata, ferita e sporca per essere uscita per le strade, piuttosto che una Chiesa malata per la chiusura e la comodità di aggrapparsi alle proprie sicurezze." È così che la Chiesa torna in strada, a cercare le persone per incontrare Dio, soprattutto fra gli ultimi, e così che la parola dei Vangeli si fa carne e parla a ognuno di noi, ai nostri corpi, non solo alle nostre anime. Don Ciotti è presidente dell'associazione Libera, don Rigoldi è cappellano del carcere minorile di Milano, don Patriciello è parroco della Terra dei fuochi, don Albanesi è presidente della Comunità di Capodarco. Sono i sacerdoti di frontiera, che interpretano la loro missione come necessità di essere più vicini agli ultimi e ai loro bisogni. Fino a poco tempo fa erano etichettati come "preti di strada" e messi ai margini della Chiesa. Ora papa Francesco è dalla loro parte, e così hanno iniziato un viaggio, ripreso dalle telecamere della trasmissione A sua immagine, per leggere e commentare le pagine del Vangelo nelle periferie, quelle "nate col peccato originale", in cui si ammassano delinquenti e diseredati, "ma anche nelle periferie dell'anima, per dare una mano alle persone a ritrovare un senso e un significato". Perché si può vivere senza sapere perché, ma non si può vivere senza sapere per chi.
