Al meer dan twaalf jaar worden deze lessen gegeven aan spirituele studenten, waarvan honderden levende demonstraties zijn van hun effectiviteit in genezing. Niet alleen zijn zieken genezen door het beoefenen van deze lessen, maar karakters zijn verlost van verslavingen en zwakheden, en voorspoed is gekomen tot diegenen die nooit gedroomd hadden dat er een wet van de geest bestaat die fortuin en vrijheid van schuld brengt. Daarom zijn deze lessen niet theoretisch of hersenschimmig, maar bewezen Waarheid, die Waarheid die waardevoller is dan welke aardse schat dan ook die genoemd kan worden en waarvoor geen ruil zelfs maar overwogen zou worden door degene die haar geleerd en gerealiseerd heeft. De lessen werden voor het eerst gepubliceerd als een serie in het metafysische tijdschrift Unity, uit Kansas City, Missouri, en door hun brede verspreiding hebben ze duizenden mensen bereikt, wiens liefdevolle getuigenissen de schrijver elke dag bereiken. Net zoals het aantal leraren en openbare genezers de vrucht was van de mondelinge presentatie van deze lezingen, wordt dezelfde gezegende oogst verwacht door hun gedrukte verspreiding. Goed nieuws is al binnengekomen uit verschillende plaatsen van groepen die dag na dag samenkomen om de lessen te horen lezen door iemand onder hen, wiens enthousiasme en geloof de woorden van de lezing dopen met die Geest die de essentiële goedheid is van mondeling onderricht. Iedereen die deze lessen in het onderwijs wil gebruiken, kan dat doen zonder naar de auteur te verwijzen. Er is geen groter compliment mogelijk dan ze te citeren als onpersoonlijke waarheid. Ten behoeve van degenen die de Bijbel willen bestuderen met een waar begrip van geestelijke dingen, is een Inhoudsopgave toegevoegd van alle bijbelse verwijzingen die in het boek worden gebruikt. Er zullen veel obscure teksten tussen staan, waarvan de uitleg duidelijk wordt gegeven in de context van het boek waarin de passage wordt geciteerd. Docenten en docenten die preken en bijbellezingen willen houden, zullen deze Inhoudsopgave een grote hulp vinden. 'Being in Christ' is a central theme in the message of the gospel. It is central for understanding the relation of Christian believers and the church with Jesus Christ, their Lord. It determines the identity of a Christian. It is helpful for understanding the presence of Christ and his salvation in the present. It can be developed as an element of a theological ontology. Finally, it is a theme with a great integrating power. In this book, the theme 'being in Christ' is analyzed in different perspectives. The attention is focused on the reality of 'being in Christ': its ontological implications. First, two representatives of the Reformed tradition are investigated: the English Puritan John Owen and the Dutch Neo-Calvinist Herman Bavinck. Second, a reconstruction of the Pauline and Johannine perspectives on 'being in Christ' is provided. Third, the theme is examined in the work of the English ethicist Oliver O'Donovan and the German-Swiss theologian Ingolf U. Dalferth. In the final chapter, the author gives his own systematic-theological proposal of a concept of 'being in Christ.'
