"I want to make three promises. First, I will not hesitate to make any efforts to fulfill any responsibility that the people of the country put on my shoulders. Second, I will not do anything for my personal benefit and third, I will not work with any malafide intentions. I assure you for these three things." -Narendra Modi The popularity of Narendra Damodardas Modi has increased multifold after he became the Prime Minister of India. He has achieved fame within the country and all over the world. Narendra Modi has also earned himself a new place of pride in the countries who have keen interest in India. Everyone is watching him for his next steps with eagerness and interest. Apart from Pakistan, many superpowers like USA, Britain and China are very anxious to improve their ties with us. Everyone hopes that India will witness a new dawn of progress on its horizon. This is also an acid test of how he will face and solve the challenges posed by the nation, how he will give a direction to the aspirations of millions of citizens and how he will fulfil the promises made by him before the election. This may not be new to him, as he has been regularly confronting challenges since his childhood. There are numerous questions but they also have answers because ever since he took up the reins of Gujarat for the first time in 2001, he has never looked back. Now, he holds the command of the entire country in his hands. He did this because he is a great leader. A Mahanayak- a great leader indeed! Kumar Pankaj, an experienced journalist has studied the entire journey of Narendra Modi, starting from his childhood to the present position he holds today, in great depth. This work, by the successful author of 'Namo mantra of Narendra Modi', is worth preserving.

This book is a worthreading, prolific and insightful lifesketch of the torchbearer of Indians. It is about common man’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has become a ray of hope for 125 crore Indians—from a humble farmer to an ambitious industrialist—having taken the route to good governance after being sworn as India's Prime Minister in May 2014. The gamechanger of Indian politics, Modi had taken the mesmeric hold over Gujarat masses with three consecutive victories in the state assembly elections and was a senior campaign adviser drawing unprecedented crowds for Lok Sabha 2014 elections. After getting elected PM, Modi is often echoed in 24x7 Breaking News on media channels and enjoys good rapport with the top world leaders whom he visited during his six months of Prime Ministership. The insightful leader led India at the IndiaASEAN Summit, G20 Summit and had bilateral meetings with the leadership of countries like US, Japan, China and other neighbouring countries of India. He has launched new avenues of cooperation with the countries with which India has deep historical and cultural ties over centuries. His initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Swachchha Bharat Abhiyan' have been widely lauded. Modi has called for innovative effort to make renewable energy, especially solar energy, competitive with conventional energy and pitched for global cooperation on repatriation of black money.

3,00,000 km. 5,200 events. 10 million volunteers. 814 million voters. 282 seats. The 2014 elections will be remembered for a campaign that captured the public imagination as never before. At its heart was Narendra Modi, 63, the feisty chief minister of Gujarat for thirteen years, bidding to be prime minister. By the end of the campaign, there was scarcely anyone who had not--on television, radio, social media or at one of his rallies--heard his message. He too seemed to have grown from a regional satrap to a leader with a national stature. Long before the results were out, the outcome seemed a foregone conclusion. Behind the ascent to prime minister, though, is a story of tough politics and hard strategy. In spite of his achievements, minorities are wary of his Hindu nationalist background, and bureaucrats and party colleagues are jittery about his reputation as an autocrat. Most of all, he has never fully been able to exorcize the ghosts of the riots that took place on his watch in Gujarat in 2002, leading to doubts among his critics about how India's social fabric will fare during his term. As he gets down to write a fresh chapter in the country's history, Modi Demystified: The Making of a Prime Minister takes a close-up look at his rollercoaster ride to power. In the process, senior journalist Ramesh Menon reveals a man of many dimensions who will lead this diverse nation.

How did a 'chai wallah' who sold tea on trains as a boy become Prime Minister of India? On May 16, 2014, Narendra Modi was declared the winner of the largest election ever conducted anywhere in the world, having fought a campaign unlike any before. Political parties in Britain, Australia and North America pride themselves on the sophistication of their election strategies, but Modi's campaign was a master-class in modern electioneering. His team created an election machine that broke new ground in the use of social media, the Internet, mobile phones and digital technologies. Modi took part in thousands of public events, but in such a vast country it was impossible to visit every town and village. The solution? A 'virtual Modi' - a life-size 3D hologram - beamed to parts he could not reach in person. These pioneering techniques brought millions of young people to the ballot box - the holy grail of election strategists everywhere - as Modi trounced the governing Congress Party led by the Gandhi dynasty. Former BBC correspondent and Downing Street communications expert Lance Price has been granted exclusive access to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team of advisers. With complete freedom to tell it as he finds it, he details Modi's rise to power, the extraordinary election victory and its aftermath. The Modi Effect: Inside Narendra Modi's campaign to transform India lifts the lid on a whole new box of tricks, where message-management and IT wizardry combined to create a vote-winning colossus of awesome potency.

Contrary to prior expectations, Narendra Modi has expended a significant amount of time, energy and political capital in conducting India's engagement with the outside world since becoming Prime Minister in May 2014. In accordance with wider perceptions about Modi, there were expectations of significant, if not radical, change in Indian foreign policy under his charge. This sentiment led to a section of Indian strategists and foreign policy watchers conceiving the notion of a 'Modi Doctrine' in Indian foreign policy. This notion of foreign policy 'doctrines' is not new to the analysis of Indian foreign policy. Previous incarnations include the 'Indira Doctrine' of the 1970s, the 'Gujral Doctrine' for a brief period in the late 1990s and the 'Manmohan Doctrine' in the period before Modi was elected as prime minister. This edited volume attempts to interrogate the extent to which Indian foreign policy, under Modi, has undergone significant change and the extent to which this manifests itself as a new doctrine in Indian foreign policy. The individual chapters cover key bilateral relationships (the United States, China, Australia and Pakistan) as well as broader regional relationships (South Asia and the Indian Ocean Region) and specific themes (such as economic diplomacy). Contents:Bilateral Engagements:Modi's China Policy — Change or Continuity? (Manjeet S Pardesi)Constructing an Indo-Pacific Partnership: Modi's Engagement with Australia (David Brewster)Modi and America: Great Expectations and Enduring Constraints (Sylvia Mishra)Embracing Japan: A Work in Progress (Anthony Yazaki)The Pakistan Challenge: Modi's 'China Card' (P S Suryanarayana)Themes/Geo-Political Regions:Modi's 'Neighbourhood First' Initiative (S D Muni)Modi's Foreign Economic Policy (Amitendu Palit)The Indian Ocean Policy of the Modi Government (Rajeev Ranjan Chaturvedy)

At the turn of the 21st century, just a decade since economic liberalisation, India was at the threshold of a changing geopolitical environment. The complex 2000s witnessed economic acceleration of China and the ASEAN, West's engagement with South East Asia, and the growing shadow of terrorism that has influenced political realities in the region and beyond. As India addresses these concerns, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's global footprint is steadily growing, and his one-to-one engagement with the nations of the world has created quite a stir, both at home and abroad. Yet, the thought that looms on many a mind is has his foreign policy made inroads where there were none? How has the perception of India intensified or altered? Does her foreign policy, resting on the foundation of "non-interference" and "friends to all", make her a serious political player, or a mere 'non-threat' entity? Is Indian foreign policy still a vestige of the Nehruvian era, or has that changed in 2015, under the leadership of the current Prime Minister?Narendra Modi and the World: The Ring View Inside Out is a comprehensive volume that attempts at answering some of the above questions. This anthology provides an influential insight into Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy since May 2014 from two standpoints: one, of India; two, of the world. The authors - ministers, diplomats, academicians and political analysts - have assessed the Prime Minister's bilateral and multilateral engagements across different regions. This volume will provide a rare but excellent opportunity for readers of politics and International Relations to delve into the complex world of foreign policy, and understand India's rise in the world order. This compendium will be highly influential in Indian and international policy circles, and will emerge as a point of reference for scholars, diplomats and students of International Relations alike.Leading contributors include Farooq Sobhan - former Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh; Dr Nagesh Kumar - Head, United Nations ESCAP South and South-West Asia; Ganeshan Wignaraja - Advisor, Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department, Asian Development Bank; Kanti Bajpai - Wilmar Chair in Asian Studies, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore; Dr Mukesh Aghi - President, US-India Business Council; Robert Boggs - former Chief of Political Section, US Embassy, New Delhi; Dr Subramanian Swamy - National President, Janata Party; Lord Dolar Popat - Former UK Minister of the Crown and Government Minister for Business and Transport; and Dr Ashok Lahiri - former Chief Economic Advisor.
